The Yin Yang of Real Estate - Updated

By
Real Estate Agent with Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices - C. Dan Joyner 21498
The Chinese symbol yin yang represents many things to many people. Some feel it represents chaos and opportunity. A kind of “light at the end of the tunnel” symbol. Many people commonly think of yin and yang as opposing forces. However, I think they are more complementary pairs. In
fact, I got a yin yang tattoo on my right shoulder in September because I like it so much and it reminds me to stay balanced.

On most work days, agents find themselves overwhelmed by phone calls, interruptions, emails, reports, files, deadlines, demands, antsy customers asking for information they most have “right now” and other agents with questions about various properties (and hopefully a closing). This chaos is not always bad, we rarely learn better communicating and management skills from calm, orderly situations that don’t test the

limits of our abilities. However, during chaotic situations, we can discover new ideas and improve our decision making skills. Chaos can give birth to new ideas and creative solutions to existing problems. It can inspire innovation, resourcefulness and bold action even in people normally prone to complacency and procrastination. Some of the best business decisions were made in chaotic situations.

Realtors today have a unique opportunity to learn new skills and find new ways to help the clients in need. For most of us, that is why we got into

real estate in the first place. So now, just because there is more chaos than in the past, let’s seize this opportunity and become better agents. Take a hint from the yin yang, find the light at the end of your tunnel!

I think it was Einstein who said that in order to solve a problem, you have to put yourself in a different mindset than the one in which the problem was originally created. That forces you to be creative, learn new ways to help your clients and solve issues.

Shelia, very well put. My husband always says I live in Chaos and I don't think he means it as a compliment. I think I'll tell him otherwise! LOL I just stopped by to wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas!
