Let me ask everybody...

Why do you cheat on Active Rain?

Now, I'm not talking to all of you honest people...

I am talking about the Active Rain users that get 20,000 points in one month (under multiple user names)

On multiple accounts...

Why do these same people steal content from somebody elses website and post it on here as their own?

Why do they then post pages and pages and pages of this stolen content on multiple blogs under different user names in different cities?

Please tell me, why do you do this?

Oh, wait...You're not reading this because you don't respond to anybody elses blog...

Sorry about my rambling, I've just noticed a very disturbing trend...

Those folks have always been here and trust me-they come and go since blogging isn't sustainable if you're into it.

I honestly would never have thought of that, and I'm not so sure I could figure out how to do it anyway.

It's an ongoing problem here in the Rain. It's something that we need to continue to remind people, and inform the masses...unfortunately, all too many times, the ones who need to read the warnings are the ones who simply ignore them....perhaps we should bring back 'Public Stoning?'

How can you know that someone is doing what you say?

Good question anyway!

Some people lack the integrity needed to realize they are only kidding themselves.  Naturally, blogging facts and things to that nature is simple compiling of pre-documented data.  It's how you present that data that makes it your own.  Footnoting and quote crediting should still be used.

The people you are speaking of are simply reaching.  They are probably unsuccessful at their career and are just trying whatever they can to attract the attention they think is necessary to become successful.  The same approach they are using here is probably the same approach they have used elsewhere.  They'll get away with it for now, but it'll eventually catch up to them and they'll eventually be exposed as a faker and/or a fraud.

It's like everything in life some people play by the rules and work hard and others , How can I say it nicely CHEAT and try to use the easy way out. Surprisingly if they would devote the same energy to doing it correctly they would be father ahead. Thanks for your blog.

How do I know?

Well, I am ranked as the #2 loan officer in Dallas...#3 has went from ZERO points to 5400 in 5 days...At first, I thought it was cool because he obviously has more time to blog than I do...but then I looked at his blog...

He also has 5 different accounts setup in different cities..do a search under his name and you will find them...

I agree, if the cheats put their blogging energy to use  toward building a better client base they would be miles ahead of the crowd.

There are dishonest people and crooks everywhere. Honestly, I had no idea people set up multiple accounts. Why? I'm with you. It doesn't serve anybody. An agent in my office told me today she paid for an ad on Active Rain because that put her name at the top when people search for her area. That sounds like a more honest way to do it. Why anybody would feel that they had to cheat for points is beyond me. But people do it on sites where there is no gain save ego. Maybe it's ego that drives them and their ego is broken.

Why does AR allow multiple accounts with cumulative points. The points should be credited for each area separately.

John, have you inquired of AR about this?

Doesn't make sense!
