My first year of basketball, I scored 1 point all season, however I led the team in rebounds and I was voted the defensive player of the year. There's a lot more to basketball than scoring; just ask Dennis Rodman...
LOL, only because my kid had a similar experience and after the teams getting pummeled all season he comes in one day grining because even though they lost he scored his first 2 points! Even in defeat knowing you helped add to the tally is a nice thing.
You got a good fam my friend enjoy them this Christmas (and I know you do!)
Yay, Claire! Our boys play lots of sports, some better than others, and we love the lessons it teaches them... especially discipline and dedication. It sounds like Claire is learning this lesson well, too.

Way to go Claire, I know your dad has a smile from ear to ear. This is the reason I'm always saying it's a good life.
It's 2 more points than I ever scored. I didn't play basketball until I did the intramurals b-ball in college. She's got about 10 more years to up her score above me!
Fortitude and determination definitely builds character - way to go, Claire!!!! Thanks for sharng this, Larry! (Now I want to know what the "Claire" play is)
Go Claire you're my kind of girl! Merry Christmas and all the best in 2012.
Oh how proud you have to be, Larry. These are the best sports and games - your own child's games:)
Great story Larry! I know children can be a pain sometimes but in the long run they're always worth it.
Larry, I bet Claire is EXTRA proud of that bucket - she should be with all that hard work to achieve it!!!
I hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas and safe and healthy new year.
Awesome story Larry. This is a more common occurrence than most people realize. That first basket that Claire made can be the impetus to thousand more baskets. Remember...it's all about heart. With your full suport and encouragement, I am sure that her days of stardom is not too far into the future. Congratulation...Way to Go Claire!
