Pick Up Your Phone...Now! An Open Rant to Other Realtors...

Because you won't return my voice message or e-mails!!!!!   Yaaaahhhhh!!!!!

I know, I'm venting, but why in the world would you be in business, have a voice mail, be licensed, pay Realtor fees, take listings, show properties, have an office, have a showing desk, hand out business cards, walk like a #@@^(*(^% buy advertising, have lock boxes, and represent buyers, sellers, and yourself...AND NOT ANSWER YOUR PHONE, RETURN VOICE MESSAGES, OR YOUR E-MAILS?

Yaaaaahhhhh!!!!  Show my house and give a quick call with a little feedback -- it's for the clients we serve (you'll have them as well) -- THEY'RE ACHING TO KNOW HOW THEIR HOUSE SHOWED (particularly in today's market).  Yes, we're selling homes, but there are a lot more homes for sale now than there were in our "hot" market.  Be a professional; show courtesy; go out of your way for three minutes and make that phone call!

I'm thinking that a lack of phone courtesy and client awareness (for sellers who had a showing) in any other profession would be unacceptable.  WHY DO WE ALLOW IT?

Well, that felt good!

I've always been perplexed by the same thing.  Even email, I get some responses so long after I sent them that I forgot I even sent it and sometimes well after my client has a home under contract.  I just don't get it and don't think their clients would understand.

I feel your frustration Terry! It's just a simple 60 second call or even an email would be appreciated.

I can also relate, and Ive heard a lot of supposed pros and cons here on AR, but to me , if you can take the time to set up showings, then do the followup. What IIIIIIIdon't like is when I do the followup and I get the 3rd degree about wy we aren't putting in an offer..or didn't do a full showing... Anyone who takes buyes around knows that sometimes we don't get allowed to see all the houses, the buyer cuts some homes at the curb. Thats all I have to tell the sellers agent, cust did not wish to see the home, better luck nect time..I cannot make the buyer do a walk thru any more than I can make them sign an offer..Best Wishes

Terry- Amen sister, the only time I have any use for realtors without any common courtesy or decency is when I am signing up their expired listings. I, hoping that this down market will wed out alot of these lazy realtors

Hi Terry,

You brought up a good up point ~ be professional!  Supra (www.suprakim.com) has a feedback feature.  It is an effective tool for getting some feedback.  It's FREE!  You just have to set up your listings.  It is frustrating for me as a buyer's agent when I try to do my feedback there and the listing is not set up.  Playing telephone tag is ineffective.

One thing to think about is that some agents have taken on a full time job because they are not doing well with real estate.  They may not be able to return calls during business hours.  I like to follow up with emails if they do not return my phone call.

By the way, check out my new blog.  I have a new record.  Congratulations on closing that REO transaction at Somersett.  That is a good buy!

Terry, I cannot vouch for others uncourteous or rude behavior but that is what sets you and I apart. We care, and would never treat people that way. Those folks will soon be out of the business in my opinion. Thanks for venting. I hope you have calmed down by now!

Terry:  I hear you loud and clear and I cannot tell you how aggravating it has been to call other Realtors and practically beg them to call me back with feedback.  I still have some that never call.  And not only do I call them, but I emal them too.  I know my listings are that bad.  They do warrant a response.  I always try to call every agent that shows one of my property's just to thank them for their time if nothing else.  But feedback is crucial.  I don't blame you for your rant.  I'm right there with you!

Jason -- As you say: "Even email, I get some responses so long after I sent them that I forgot I even sent it and sometimes well after my client has a home under contract."  Irritating. Yaaaahhhh!

Dominic --- yes, thanks, maybe even less than 60 seconds; that's the killer.  Yaaahhhh!

Mike -- you may have touched on the other Yaaahhhh -- the third degree!  As you say: "I get the 3rd degree about why we aren't putting in an offer..or didn't do a full showing..."  Yaaahhhh, I understand.

Hugh -- you get a ha ha ha ha -- go sign up their expired listings!

Catherine -- you're so high tech, girl!  And you're right phone tag is ineffective.  Good point about the part-time job angle; it's true, though my full-time Real Estate practice seems like two jobs at times.  Please send me an e-mail about your new record; your blog looks cool!

Gary -- thanks for your kind words; you're right WE wouldn't treat others as referenced in my post.  Yaaahhhh!  I think some are already out of the business....

Donna -- you expressed a kind heart, indeed, particularly in your comment: "I always try to call every agent that shows one of my properties just to thank them for their time if nothing else."  We need this bit of polish in our profession!

Terry thank you. I've had this happen so many times. Too numerous to mention. It drives me up a wall. Like you said why pay the money and not answer. My answer to that is they think they're better and they dont HAVE  to answer or call back.

I wonder if those same agents are that slow when the message says "I have an offer on your property."

Makes them seem greedy, all about the money, not about the service.

Just my opinion.
