Although the use of technology in Real Estate has significantly increased in the past 10 years, I still find myself wondering if, as Realtors, we do enough to simplify our work and make our clients lives easier. Of course ten years ago, who would have thought that you could do the things we can do with an iPad or any other tablet? Or that you could be reached at all times through email on your phone? Or that you could even sign documents a thousand miles away?

 

I LOVE making transactions as smooth as I can, for everybody. It doesn’t really matter to me which hat I am wearing on this transaction, whether I am a buyer’s agent or a listing agent, my goal is always to get things done in the most efficient way.


 

Making this happen requires some skills and I know not everyone is computer friendly, but really one program that has changed the way we do business in Real Estate is DocuSign.  DocuSign has pulled us out of so many holes in this office! As a listing agent I have heard so many excuses as to why other agents can’t get the paperwork in on time. The truth is when you are an REO listing agent, there are deadlines that you have to meet and sometimes things just don’t seem to fall in the right place for that to happen.

 

Instead of getting all crazy and demanding the paperwork with threats, one thing that has worked for me is talking to the Realtor and really knowing what the problem is. Most of the times I can tell you their problem is that their clients went on this crazy unplanned vacation and they are not able to sign until they come back. My answer is simple; have them DocuSign it. I get a lot of “what’s?” I simply explain what it entails, how you can easily use it, how it is client & realtor friendly and how it will solve the problem in no time.  Another huge issue is bad copies. Nobody wants a bad copy that you can’t even read (fax copies are the worst, yikes!) Some sellers can be very picky about it and will not sign a contract that’s nothing less than pristine. DocuSign will keep your copies looking like a PRO after they have come and gone.

 

The truth is, I don’t always use DocuSign but it has honestly been a life saver in some transactions. If your clients can’t meet, consider using this program. If you love organization and cleanliness I highly recommend it. Almost everybody has access to internet and email these days, even if they don’t have a computer of their own. Trust me, people will LOVE a Realtor who is up-to-date with technology and furthermore they will love that you want to make their lives simple!
