It's never a good sign when there is ZERO traffic on the way to the office. Just how slow is it today? Let's just say the office line did not ring until 1030 this morning. And that was a drunk dude trying to order pizza!

About a mile from the office it dawned on me that most of the vendors I need to speak with are closed today. And something tells me ALL of next week will be hit or miss at best.

So the plan today is to catch up on some marketing stuff and clean the office. Perhaps that drunk was on to something, I think fresh pizza would make a nice dinner!

Yep a bit slow here too, it was 9:30 before the phone rang and my drive into work I passed a few more cars but I think they were all on their way to buy the last minute

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, enjoy your pizza!!!

Doug,

I worked the last shift on our duty desk yesterday then closed our office for the holidays. I was prepared to kick anyone out no matter who might have been lingering at the office and it wouldn't matter whether they had been naughty or nice. You see, I don't often work the desk but it's my gift to the other real estate agents in my office at Christmas time. I'll pickup the unfilled duty agent slots since everyone else wants to be at home with friends and family for the holidays.

So, long story short, our office is located on the plaza at Annapolis' biggest shopping center (there's a Nordstorms, Pennys, Sears, Lord & Taylor, and several dozen more name brand stores) and it took me 15 minutes to travel two blocks off Rt. 50 just to get into our parking lot. While I wasn't expecting much action on the duty desk, the action was all at the mall! Perhaps this foretells a strong retail season with blistering sales indicating a robust and recovered economy? I don't know. Perhaps people just can't wait any longer to buy the things they've been longing for throughout this depressed economy such as replacing worn sneakers with the new Air Jordan's (I heard there were knife fights and gunshots over the latest release at malls thought the county, three went to jail after a brawl at our mall!!!). I don't know.

Either way it didn't really matter, since no one was calling to make a last minute home purchase right before Christmas. Who could want to put a new condo or townhome under the tree just in time for the new year!!! The few calls that did come in, and I think there were about four in total, over the afternoon shift from 1:00 till 3:30 where three-for-four telemarketers calling to sell something to agents. If I hadn't been on the duty desk, those calls all would have been deep sixed to voice mail purgatory, but, after all it was the holidays, so I spoke at length to each one, but, politely declined to purchased anything. But there was one sign call, a gal asking about the price of a townhome (rats, under contract) but there were several others in the neighborhood, so I sent her a list of them. I'll follow-up after the holidays, so we'll just have to wait and see.

Happy Holidays to All,

Stephen Howell

Doug so true, I spent most of Thursday 12/22 writing extensions until January!  Our office is closed  However I did show a house on the 23rd and its a Christmas miracle it was accepted on Christmas Eve.  Good thing I checked my

email before attempting to finally bake something for my family!   Merry Christmas

By the time you read this, you'll probably know whether you were naughty or nice. Look under the Christmas tree.... no presents? naughty.... I'm guessing they'll be lots of presents.

Merry Christmas Day!
