The local Seattle effort is a part of a broader holiday agenda intended to hamper drunk driving by inspiring  consumers to be proactive when it comes to safe holiday celebrations that includes an assortment of programs and partnerships across the country.  The Click-It-2-Ride program will feature special marketing with QR Codes as point of sales signage designed to be scanned with a smartphone to provide the user with the ability to speed dial a taxi service and to be able to view responsible drinking information.

"This is an excellent way for Coors to expand 'Please Drink Responsibly' and connect with their brand users," said Mike McGuinness, vice president of sales at Florida based QRblaster.com.

"A responsible vendor, in this case the bar, should do everything they can to keep people from getting into their cars, especially at holiday time," he said.

The Click-It-2-Ride program is being held in alliance between CBS Radio and Coors Light.

MillerCoors is promoting an arrangement of other programs to endorse the use of designated drivers and arranging ahead for other means of transportation, including being the sole sponsor of 1-800-TAXICAB, which is a national taxi dispatch service.  Consumers can call and automatically be connected with a taxi service local in their area.

Users of the iPhone can also use the free app - Miller Lite Tax Finder.  Other smartphones users should go to MLTaxifinder.com or CLTaxifinder.com to get single touch dialing for nearby taxi services.

The One Million Strong effort asks consumers to pledge responsible drinking habits at GreatBeerResponsibility.com to combat and prevent drunk driving and help MillerCoors' effort to reach one million annual pledges.  Over 21 consumers can also share their plan to celebrate the holidays responsibly and be entered to win one of four gift cards (valued at $500) to put towards their plan.

More and more brands are beginning to test and adopt QR Code Marketing for purposes other than simply delivering content, according to QRBlaster.com .

Mr. McGuinness says that the single most important fact of QR Code Marketing should be a "Call To Action" of redeemable offers and incentives instead of directing a website, which often times are not viewable correctly on mobile devices and smartphones.

To paraphrase Mr. McGuinness, a very smart move for retailers to increase brand and product awareness in 2012 is to marry QR Code Marketing with mobile optimized video advertisements that may be already online along with any current television advertising.
