It's the Christmas holiday weekend, and Silver Spring home owners won't be at a loss for places to go and things to do! Here's a glimpse at the possibilities available during the upcoming week:

On Christmas Eve (Saturday, December 24), River Road Unitarian Universalist Congregation will hold two Christmas Eve Candle Lighting Services. The first, at 5:00pm, will be a Family Christmas Eve Candle Lighting. This will feature familiar carols and RRUUC's traditional Christmas Eve pageant.  The second Christmas Eve Service will begin at 8:15pm.  This service is titled, 'Joy to the World.' It features songs, choral music, and stories ancient and new,  to help connect with the deeper reasons for the season. Christmas (Sunday, December 25), may find you missing a little something that Santa overlooked. Why not browse and buy fine artworks for yourself at Glen Echo Park’s annual Holiday Art Show and Sale? The exhibition will feature works by resident artists, instructors and invited artists and will include glass, ceramics, jewelry, photographs, paintings, and more. In the Popcorn Gallery. If you're like a lot of folks, you'll be taking off work Monday, December 26. During the evening (5:30-9pm), Brookside Gardens will be transformed into a spectacular winter wonderland with one million twinkling colorful lights shaped into original art-forms like a giant Loch Ness Monster, a kaleidoscope caterpillar, a flock of flying geese, animals, flowers, plants and more! Now in its 15th season, the Garden of Lights walk-though holiday light display is a family favorite for young and old. ADMISSION: Cash Only. $20 per car/van (M-Th) 5:30 -9:00pm.

On Tuesday, December 26, if you've got grandkids visiting for the holidays, come with your grandchild to explore the winter season around the nature center. Explore wildlife adaptations in winter, make your own animal tracks, enjoy snowy snacks, and more from 10am-12:30pm. Grandchildren sign up; grandparents are free! Ages 6-11 yrs old. Looking for something different to do? On Wednesday, December 27, The Prince George's African American Museum & Cultural Center presents Unwind Wednesdays. Visit the current exhibit Coming Home: How the African American experience in World War II shaped the culture of Prince George's County. Share a glass of wine and network with others from 6:30-8pm.

On Thursday, December 28, why not let go and have fun at the West Coast Swing Lessons and Dance at the Bentz Street Sports Bar in Frederick? Check-in and pre-dance social, 6:30 p.m. Beginner lesson, 7:15 p.m. Advanced beginner lesson, 8 p.m. Open dance, 8:45 p.m.

On Friday, December 29, The Artists’ Gallery presents the work of artist members in a special holiday exhibition – 'Small Works + Big Hearts.'In the spirit of the season, 10% of all sales will be donated to the Frederick Community Action Agencywhich provides a broad array of programs and services including the food bank and the Frederick Soup Kitchen.
