Are your customers and clients being neglected?

Real Estate Broker/Owner with Tutas Towne Realty, Inc and Garden Views Realty, LLC BK607690

Following up on one of my deals today scheduled to close this coming Friday. Finally reached the Buyer's Realtor after leaving several messages only to hear how hectic her week has been with the kids getting ready for school blah, blah, blah. Anyway she suggested that I follow up with the Mortgage Broker and Title Company to make sure we are still on track for Friday as she doesn't have the time to deal with this this week. OK, correct me if I'm wrong but sometimes I wonder why I am even paying the buyers' Realtors. This happens ALL the time. Fortunately for them I prefer to cut them out of the deal as soon as possible anyway so I can deal directly with the Mortgage Broker. But what about the Realtors that don't want to deal with the other side of the transaction? Are these Buyers having the same difficulty with their Realtor as I am? I do realize that there are part time Realtors in this business that have conflicting obligations, like another job, but please for the Buyer's sake dedicate some time during the day where you are able to follow up and take care of your Real Estate business.

Buying or selling a house is a BIG deal for the consumer. As Realtors we must be in a position to see them through this experience and give them 100% of our attention in getting their deal closed. If you can't do this full time then you need to partner up with another Realtor that can handle your business when you are not able. We owe the consumer no less than this. Are your customers and clients being neglected?

Well said again....for me I would like to kick these sorry souls out of the business...to neglect your role, job, or whatever they want to call their responsibility is outrageous to the Brokers who clean up their mess time and time again....as I have said often we need more stringent requirements from our leaders in the industry...I have no problem being required to take continuing education...go one step further....add testing as a requirement!  We recently had a licensed Broker from Massachusetts in the business 22 years who chose not to see the cooperating fee...maybe since he did not have a computer etc...but nonetheless he was useless and failed in all his obligations..my associate went through the correct steps and was awarded the whole fee and deserved it....this broker called looking for his fee and I told him to review his offer and the cooperating fee for his form of agency...that equaled 0.....not that I wished that but he was useless and for that uselessness we as an industry are all hurt by a broker like this example.

Start acting and conducting yourself professionally and point out  those that don't..hopefully they will rid themselves of this wonderful profession!!!!

In Florida it is the Brokers obligation to train and supervise his associates. Unfortunately this is not being done. It's turned into a numbers game. Hire as many REaltors as you can charge them a desk fee and eureeka! The money roles in whether you sale Real Estate or not. Good for the Broker bad for the consumer.

If an agent is not going to do his part of the transaction, at least Get Out of the Way and let us do it all - far better than being blindsided just before closing.  And yes, buyers do notice. That must be why many of them call us when it comes to selling their property - they liked what they saw.

Bryant and Jay, I completely agree with what you both said. Testing would be great. Here in Florida we DO have to test again for our renewal the first time around. I am in the process of doing that and learning more every day. However, all the testing in the world is going to make someone follow through. The Realtor Bryant was referring to, just doesn't want to do her job, it isn't that she can't, she just won't.

I keep on top of everything and have been able to get deals closed early because of it, making the buyers and the sellers happy. I think the mortgage companies move faster when you are calling them twice a week to see how things are going.....and yes, I am rambling again.

I am working with buyers now who will be relocating to Tennessee who have a home for sale in Florida. They have told me that they hear from me more than their listing agent who is around the corner from them in Florida. What's up with that?
