December Season of Celebration and Sharing
“Glendale Glitters” is that city's Holiday Tradition. I confess, I had never attended before this year. It is featured in newspaper, television, everyone in the Greater Phoenix area has probably attended this celebration many times. This is my year to go.
I don't know much about Glendale's business district. Familiar with areas with horse property and feed stores, I need a map or GPS for the rest. I got the address and a google map from Arizona Central and away we went. My google print-out is directing us to Murphy Park. After a nice long drive (Christmas lights everywhere are lovely) we find the park. It is dark.
We are out in north-west Glendale and there are no signs of a Christmas Celebration. Why would they hold it here anyway? Well, it is obvious they don't....
We did find a City Park that was nicely decorated, this is one of those photos!
I asked my GPS for “downtown Glendale” and away we went for a long drive again. We enjoyed the lights along the way and after a few U turns, found ourselves in the historical city center and Glendale (indeed) Glitters!
Carriage rides were a great crowd favorite. The atmosphere was one of hundreds of families enjoying a family outing for children of all ages.
It is a splendid celebration, I am happy I finally went and this won't be the last year we attend! Especially now that I know it is almost due north of my home, actually a short distance and drive!
I enjoy getting lost, I see things I would have missed had I simply used the direct route as most people do. We enjoyed the circuitous route to find Glendale Glitters and then enjoyed the straight drive home.
