Using Custom Google Maps To Help Your Localism Posts
I plan on doing a lot more Localism Posts for 2012, here is a great article on how to incorporate Google maps to those posts which will add to the value of the post. Hope this will add success to your blog for 2012.
Using Custom Google Maps To Help Your Localism Posts
If your posts are written solely to local residents who already know the area inside and out, then mapping an event isn't important. If on the other hand you're blogging about a subject that may involve a lot of customized information, then taking advantage of another FREE Google service may be just the thing. Of course, you'll need to sign up for a Google account first, but once you have it, there's a tremendous amount of possibility to augment your blogs.
Want to map certain communities in your area? For example, golf course communities, pool communities, patio home communities? Once you've collected the information, you can create a custom map, save it, and embed the html code in your blog post. And a cool thing about the code, as you update your maps later, you DON'T have to go back to your old posts and update! The code pulls the latest version of the map every time!
Now if where you want to use a map doesn't allow html code, you can always use screen capture software to clip a photo and save. NOTE: Make sure you credit the copyright to Google. This technique is how we did our Service Area map in our blog signature section.
Now we're not going to provide step by step map making instructions since Google has already created a great tutorial on Google Maps. Give it a try, the more you do it, the easier it gets!
