It really is a "Wonderful Life" in Pottersville NJ
Although the sign reads "You Are Now in Bedford Falls", the town is actually Pottersville, a charming village within the Township of Bedminster NJ. The sign in the picture is prominently displayed once a year in the center of the village crossroads every Christmas Day as a funny and ironic twist on Frank Capra's holiday film classic "It's A Wonderful Life" starring Jimmy Stewart. In the story, the film's main character, George Bailey has a bad dream where a competing banker, (better known as Mr. Potter - an evil scrooge-like character) takes over George's All-American hometown of Bedford Falls, MA and turns it into "Pottersville", a rather dreadful place that he no longer recognizes with bars and dance halls on every corner and where none of his old friends remember him.
Bordered by the Lamington River to the east, the quiet and quaint village of Pottersville is a scene right out of a Norman Rockwell painting and while it is much smaller in size than Bedford Falls, it is in many ways a very idealyic town like it's counterpart in the movie. It has its own General Store, Bank, Community Center, historic churches, private school and an increasingly popular Annual Antique Show that takes place in July.
Merry Christmas to all, especially you George Bailey, wherever you are!

Close enough to New York City, the Jersey Shore and the neighboring state of Pennsylvania, day trips are easily made by bus, train or car to these destinations. Many residents commute to Manhattan. Still more travel for shopping, culture, dining and the like. To many of its residents, Bedminster is far away, yet so close.
