Alright, Jay, I've got to suggest that so everyone can get rid of that weak leaking foundation right now!  Excllent, and I wish it really was that simple.  Have a great week, and Happy New Year!

Billy Jays - You might consider marketing your foam as a replacement/alternative to mortar. Contractors/flippers could do their own foundation additions without having to call in a contractor, and having had a similar, but I'm sure inferior product on my hands I know it will stick to anything.

Jay -- you forgot the other intrusive group who love those foundation points of failure-- the rodents.  They just love to get in through those gaps and cracks.  But who do I get to crawl all around the exterior foundation in the crawl space (less than 2' clearance) to find and fill them?

Billy, sign me up I'll take a case and sell it at the time of the inspection.

Client, "What can we do about all those holes in the stone foundation."

Me, "I'm glad you asked that.  For just xxx.xx you can have this can of Foam Yer Foundation".

No need to back out of any deals because of a crumbling foundation again.  Brilliant.

Don - I have permission to send this to you:

"We have never come out with a catalog, especially in advance.  Our marketing model is meeting the need once we find it.      Billy"

That there is one firm foundation Mike!  Nothing stronger than foam.

John - Billy would LOVE for this foam to replace mortar.  I for one am not optimistic.

Brad - again from Billy:

"I can send a couple of tubes of that with your order!  We always like to get the product out there.  But you have to call now.       Billy"

I didn't forget Steven.  That's Billy's product, not mine.  I would prefer mortar every time, but don't tell Billy I said that.  Thanks.

As to the clearance problem, I would recommend one or two of my 12 year old Boy Scouts, weight about 65 or 70 pounds.

Jay,  I asked a 30 year master carpenter what he thought about the Foam...  He said it was the worst product ever invented; stay away from it.

Great Blog, Great Photos, thanks for the laugh!

Good morning James,

I love a good laugh, and your photos reminded me of several "foamed repairs" that I have seen by creative homeowners and repair professionals(?) alike.

Wishing you and yours a Very Happy New Year!

Thanks Lisa.  And same to you of course.  I see foam all the time, and not just at the ocean.

You know Jay I'll bet that stuff is cutting into the traditional caulk market.

I think because they figured out how to make it minimally expansive Jack.  It does work well around windows and doors.  Inside anyway.

Jay - this post is right on the money the pictures and all. Really shows why an inspection is important. At the very least though, the owners were creative - lol
