Pedestrian tales from the middle of the road, #8

Another pedestrian tragedy on the roads here. Brevard County Sheriff J.R. "Jack" Parker joins Orlando Police Chief Paul Rooney, Orange County Sheriff Jerry Demings and other law enforcement heads around here who need to do a much better job of enforcing our pedestrian traffic laws.

One accident here, but two families affected- and both surely had a Christmas 2011 they'd like to forget.

May God bless both Mr. Taylor's family and the pedestrian's- for this accident claimed quite a few victims.

Pedestrian killed by minivan near Cocoa
By Susan Jacobson , Orlando Sentinel

A 44-year-old man was killed Christmas Eve when he was hit by a minivan, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

A 2000 Dodge Caravan driven by Barre Taylor, 59, of Cocoa was northbound on U.S. Highway 1 near Roundtree Drive, north of Cocoa, when the pedestrian walked into its path, troopers said.

The man, who has not been identified, was taken to Wuesthoff Medical Center in Rockledge, where he was pronounced dead shortly after the 7:50 p.m. crash.
