Sounds like a great celebration this year. I visited for New Years Eve about 5 years ago. It was fantastic! You are only about a 3.5 hour drive for me and I would highly recommend this event to others. Great fun! Enjoy and Happy New Year!

Kathy, that sounds like a great event. I like the non-alcohlic part. We typically stay home because it is not a good night to be out. Hope you plan on going and that you have a great welcome to the New Year! Nice localism post!

First Night is a wonderful program in many communities. Thanks for sharing information on your event.

Home buyers are finding wonderful purchase opportunities during the holidays.  The selection is large, the prices are attractive and the mortgage interest rates are at record low levels.

Happy Holidays!  Happy New Year!

I like the idea of the family finale, Kathy. The little ones usually can't make it through Mid-night.

Love First Night... no matter where it's being held! I almost decided to come down your way for New Year's. But I didn't want to make the drive and plane tix were just too expensive during the holidays. But not to worry Kathy, I'll be there in 2012!

Kathy-We have First Night at the local church. I worked at it a few years ago. There were a lot of folks in attendance having lots of fun. This is great for the whole family. I hope your Christmas was wonderful and the New Year is your best one yet.

This sounds like a lot of fun and the whole family can do it - might be even 'cool' for teens. My favorite idea is the early finale for young kids. Great idea. I wish we had something like that here. Are you going?

Maggie- we used to do the whole late dinner out with friends and then driving home but not any more.  I think more and more people are doing something like this.

Michael- I'd probably want to take advantage of the early celebration at 9 for the kids!!

Randall - so glad you stopped by!  You have a great vantage point from your office of everything happening on the Avenue!

Diane- yes, we're right down the coast.  Give me a call the next time you're this way.. coffee's on me!

Marcia- we're due for 77 degrees with a low in the mid 60's!  Come on down!

Jeanean- we don't go out like we used to.  And, you're right... because of the "crazies" on the road we stay fairly close to home.

Dorie- it's one of the things I love most about Delray!  Austin is probably very much the same.

Roy- I'm not sure who or how First Night got started but it's a great concept.

Toni- not just the little ones!!!

Craig- I really don't like traveling during the holidays... airfare is not only high but crazy !  See you in 2012!!!!

Sharon- our church in Houston had films and all sorts of activities for not just little kids but the teens as well!

BARFF- would be fun even without the adult beverages.l

Lou- we may bump into you!!!! Wonder how many people will attend!

Connie- We are still toying with the idea of going but I really think I want to stay home, prepare a really fun meal and then ring in the NY watching the crowds on TV.

The last time I went out for New Year's Eve was about 15 years ago. It was expensive and the crowd wasn't worth it. Gayle and I prefer a nice glass of champagne, a warm fire, and Times Square on television.
