Sunday, November 11th is Veterans Day, a day we as a Nation have set aside to honor our Vets. A day set aside to thank our vets for their service to our country.

November 11th was picked for this special day because it is the anniversary of the signing of the Armistice that ended World War 1. (Signed on the 11th hour of the 11th day of 1918).

Our vets have and are sacrificing so much for us. They have sacrificed life and limb. They've sacrificed time with their families, their baby's first steps, first words, graduation, holidays with their families. They go to far off lands, sometimes not knowing what the future holds for them. They do this without complaining.

Lysa, Great post. We really owe a lot to our veterans.  We may not agree with the wars but we should always support our troops.

Hi Lysa, it is always a great privilege to do something at this time of year.  Of course the Marine Corps Birthday is on Nov 10th as well.  We have much to be thankful for, and I for one am very proud of our armed forces, especially at this time while we are in a fight for so many.  Thank you for your post.  I will do my best here in Indiana and I know you will do the same in Florida.  Take care.

Neal, Um, thanks

Carol, I hope all communities are doing the same. Thank you.

Matt, I agree with you 100% on not agreeing with the wars, but we should support the men and women fighting them.

Joan, When I went to go write this piece I couldn't find anything on the internet, I thought this is nuts! Nothing going on for Veterans Day? Then I picked up a newspaper and there it all was!
