10 of my favorite cottages for sale in the Seattle area
Growing up in Seattle in late 1950s we had a summer cottage on Lake Sammamish which is located 8 miles east of Seattle. The cottage could only be used in the summer because it was only a single wall constructed home with a fireplace yet, it was perfect for summer! The cottage had a large enclosed sleeping porch and a mammoth game table, or at least it seemed, in the living room which was perfect for playing cards well into the night.

Most of the summer cottages that once lined the shoreline of Lake Sammamish have been replaced by larger homes designed for fulltime residences working in Bellevue, Redmond, Issaquah, and Seattle.
My 10 favorite sale range from a one bedroom fixer on 6 acres and a private pond in Duval listed for sale for $189,950 to a turn-key Built Green 2 bedroom 2 bath cottage in Redmond built by award winning builder The Cottage Company listed for $525,000.
Cottage homes have become a great alternative to condominiums or townhouses for people who want to live in a smaller single family environment.
Outside of Seattle there’re some great new cottage developments, San Juan Passage which features 100 Green Built cottage style homes and the Chico Beach Cottages, just south of Silverdale, an intimate new waterfront enclave of seven detached 2 & 3 bedroom homes with sweeping Dyes Inlet & Mt. Rainier views from every home with main floor master suite.
