OREGON'S NEW WOODSTOVE LAW

By
Real Estate Agent with RE/MAX Integrity

Shop WoodstoveWoodstovesOregon has a new woodstove law that requires all wood stoves to be on an approved list provided by the Department of Environmental Quality.  If the stoves are non-compliant the law requires that they be not only removed from the premises, but that they be certified destroyed to DEQ standards.  We have some of the cleanest air in all 50 states and it looks like we are doing everything we can to keep it that way!

The uncertified stoves tend to burn about 70% dirtier than certified ones.  Here are two examples of old stoves that are in the pipeline to be destroyed.

I see two reasons, one is not burning efficiently, the second is they might not be up to current safety and fire standards, we already seen some house fires this season.

David,  I think you are on the mark!  It is a good law and will just take a little getting used to.

Way to go, Oregon!

It's takes some guts and forward thinking for politicians to manage to prevent a problem that hasn't become a crisis yet.  I'm impressed.

BTW, I love your profile photo.  Very cool!
