If you purchased a home in 2011 make sure you file your homestead exemption! This is a free service, no need to pay any of the companies that you will most likely get mail from. Requirements are that you have owned the home as of January 1 of this year. However, if you missed filing last year you can check the box to indicate this. The property must also be your primary residence and you and your spouse can not claim homestead on more than one property. As always, if you have questions, feel free to contact me!
