This is great David.  Here are my top 10 for 2011.

BTW, I think it's better to sort by # of clicks - those are people that actually clicked and open (and supposedly read) your post.

Hi David,

I am personally usually surprised by what blogs become popular (or even featured).  I swear my best work goes almost completely unnoticed.  :)  Now I am curious and will have to check.

Lisa do you consider popular when you get dozen of comments, but is that your target audience ActiveRain or is it local views, that is why I like to count the views of my posts which are the majority hyper local.

David

For my own curiousity, I did it both ways: by number of comments and by number of views. Different results. Here's mine:

Hi David,

I did "run the numbers" today and was surprised by the results.  I think the number of clicks is the most important because that tells you how many people actually clicked on it to read it.  At least that is how I understand it works (if I am wrong, PLEASE tell me).  Then I also did a percentage of clicks to views to see how "effective" my titles were to lure readers into clicking on the post.

I ranked my 25 best and 25 worst in terms of clicks and percentage clicks/views who clicked on them to read.  Some posts with no comments (the hyperlocal ones) have over 1000 clicks.  My "catchy" titles (80-90% of viewers clicked on the posts) are all my featured posts (all 11 of them) which were mostly "Members Only" and have a ton of comments too.

This has been eye-opening for where I should focus attention in 2011.  I think it is better to be reaching the local community even though they don't comment.

I will be posting my "results" in a blog post soon- hopefully by tomorrow.

Lisa

Lisa, Yes it seems you have the definitions of Views and Clicks correct though it seems not to follow common sense. I would suspect 100's of people looking at the blog roll and so the View definition does not really seem real.

Thanks DeeDee for those top 10 posts awesome.
