I have mentioned a number of times about how dedicated Carlsbad is to the arts. Carlsbad IS a town that is fond of the artworld, and there are plenty of venues and activities during the year that illustrate this attitude.

Art Splash, in September, is one such outdoor activity. And Carlsbad's Cannon Art Gallery has become well known for its art exhibits each year as well as the annual Plein Air Brunch fundraiser.

The current art exhibit at the Cannon Art Gallery, curated by Director Karen McGuire, is another fine example of the dedication to bringing a range of art to the residents of Carlsbad. This invitational show features David Adey, Gerrit Greve (who also spoke at the Plein Air Brunch fundraiser and donated a wonderful piece to the silent auction), Lee Puffer, and Jen Trute. The talent and creativity revealed in this show was impressive. I only had a few minutes to spend, so I need to return so I can take more time to better appreciate the works of these fine local artists. I'm not sure what I think at this point...and sometimes art does that to you.

Enjoy the show (beware - there are 35 slides)

Love, love, love your slide shows!  Trying to get my tech guy (that's Bob) to sign us up.  It's a very tantilizing way to expose "stuff".  Thanks for sharing another great Localism post with us.

Warm Regards,

Lisa

Thanks, Lisa. It works pretty well. I usually keep it pretty simple but there are a bunch of options. I like that you can upload a large number of slides if you want.

Glad I wasn't in my office when the music started (enjoyable at home, but not at work) - took me a while to figure out where to click to turn it off.

Have you found it better to start on, with a place to turn it off rather than start with it off, with a place to turn it on?

Jeff, I really like the way that you have put this video together, it is very different and I think that the music was a great choice for this presentation.

Sharon - hmmm. I did not add music, so it must have been a default that I did not nocite. I prefer no music for this sort of thing. Will go back and check. I am not sure there is an opt-on/opt-off for viewers - the developer decides...I think.

George - Actually I did not ADD music intentionally, it seems to be a default. So I got rid of it - I think folks may prefer not to have it start automatically (it's hard to see the icon to turn off the music), and there seems to be no way to turn it off otherwise. But I may be missing something. Thanks for the compliment. :)

Jeff~ loved the slide show but I thought I was going deaf until I got to your last comment! Beautiful artwork in the gallery.  Thanks for allowing us a peek.

Lisa - LOL. I feel badly since the music was NOT planned and I did not realize it was included. I clearly need to check this carefully in the future to not offend anyone. I hate loud music that starts playing that I don't want to hear myself, so I sure want to make sure I don't insult others. :) Sorry you had to put up with that!! I don't get why these sites think people will find this sort of thing appealing. You should have to ADD it rather than opt out, IMO
