Christmas Questions...just for fun

By

blue Christmas houseLast night I had the pleasure of joining friends for a great session of pre-holiday visiting and chatting.  Our host surprised us all by handing out questionaires, and suggesting that we spend the evening talking about our answers to these holiday questions.

We had such a great time, and the discussion lasted much past our usual time.  I think we all really enjoyed it, and it was a time we all learned more about the people we thought we knew.

I thought it might be fun to put the questions out here, for everyone to think about and enjoy.  They're good for sharing, for rememberring, and for looking ahead.

  1. What is your favorite holiday food?
  2. Do you remember your favorite gift when you were a kid?
  3. What is your favorite Christmas tradition?
  4. What is your favorite Christmas carol, and why?
  5. What is your favorite Christmas memory?
  6. What is your favorite part of waking up on Christmas morning?
  7. How has Christmas changed for you over the years?
  8. What is the deepest prayer of your heart this Christmas?

Feel free to comment, or if you like, use a question or two to start a new thread on your blog.

My favorite carol?  Oh, Holy Night... no question.  But in the truck cd player right now I have Mannheim Steamroller, Oscar Peterson, and Ramsey Lewis (y'all don't need links to those, do you?)

  1. What is your favorite holiday food? - Francy's Triple Layer Brownies. You gain weight LOOKING at them.
  2. Do you remember your favorite gift when you were a kid? - A BB gun
  3. What is your favorite Christmas tradition? - Lighting a fire on Xmas eve. Even when it's 75 outside..
  4. What is your favorite Christmas carol, and why? - O Holy Night - My mom used to sing it solo every year in the church choir.
  5. What is your favorite Christmas memory? - The first Christmas after my dad came home from Vietnam. I was 9.
  6. What is your favorite part of waking up on Christmas morning? - A few years ago, the look on the kids faces. Their teenagers now, that's not as special. This is going to sound REALLY corny, but singing "Happy Birthday" to Jesus is a special moment,
  7. How has Christmas changed for you over the years? -- it's become FAR too commercialized. ANd the whole PC thing about "Happy Holidays" vs "Merry Christmas" drives me batty.
  8. What is the deepest prayer of your heart this Christmas? -- My brother-in-law Tom was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer a couple of months ago. It's spread everywhere. We need a miracle.

Thanks for posting this Bill, it's may favorite comment of the day (And I've made almost 300 comments today)
