Golden Oldies #28 (December 31, 2011)

Reblogger C. Lloyd McKenzie
Real Estate Broker/Owner with Living Albuquerque 16784

Being featured in Russel Ray's "Golden Oldies" is quite an honor.  I thought I would share this with those of my friends who missed "Drinking and driving is a tragedy"  post that I wrote two years ago.  Please stop by Russel Ray's blog and leave him a comment also.  Thank you Russel.

Blogging makes you younger! It's true — try it and see for yourself. Blogging puts you in touch with the world around you — scratch that — blogging makes you a part of the world around you. It lifts the spirit and lightens the heart!

May 24, 2009
Melissa Zavala, Broadpoint Properties; Escondido, California
If you are just starting out in real estate or you feel the need to extend your sphere of influence a little bit, the best thing to do is to start with what and who you know. Everyone needs to know that you are in real estate . . . all the time . . . everywhere you go.

February 15, 2010
Paula McDonald, Chevaux Group; The Woodlans, Texas
The next morning in the athletic dorm where I lived, when I entered the cafeteria, the entire basketball team started cheering for me and told me that they had watched the video of me flying across the gym over and over and in reverse!

Gina TufanoYour friend, Credit
September 15, 2010
Gina Tufano, Keller Williams Loudon Gateway; Sterling, Virginia
Every adult has an imaginary friend. He is a deciding factor in most of our major decisions — what kind of car you'll drive, how often you'll go shopping, and most importantly, what kind of home you'll live in. He's Credit, and he can be your best friend, but you have to take care of him.

C. Lloyd McKenzieDrinking and driving is a tragedy
November 23, 2009
C. Lloyd McKenzie, Allstar Realty; Albuquerque, New Mexico
I had to walk away.  I walked away saddened, because it dawned on me that there are so many precious lives being wasted.  Yes, wasted for short-term pleasure. Lives are lost, families are broken up and it seems to be a never-ending problem.

Lisa WetzelPut your valuables away when selling!
May 5, 2009
Lisa Wetzel, RE/MAX Realty Affiliates; Carson City, Nevada
An agent will do everything possible to protect your assets, but if you have a new agent and a thief that has been a thief for 20 years - who has more experience? Remove the temptation - put it away.  After all, they aren't buying your jewelry - they are supposed to be buying your house.  You are moving anyway... pack some of your special things a bit early to play it safe.

Julila MaherDay 1, Part 2: The Condo Staging Diary: The Painters
January 26, 2010
Julia Maher, Nestings Home Staging and Design; Fairfield, Connecticut
The painter's eyes popped when he first saw the condo, as did our Realtor's. Mom's condo was pink and green, with blue accents. When she moved into the condo, she finally had a home that was hers and hers alone. She didn't have to put up with "correct" historical colors or crazy kids' choices.

Debbe PerryWhat does the Class of 2014 have to do with real estate?
August 18, 2010
Debbe Perry, Real Living Carolina Property; Morganton, North Carolina
A quarter of the class has at least one immigrant parent, and the immigration debate is not a big priority...unless it involves 'real' aliens from another planet. I learned to write in cursive. I still have one of those phones with the coiled cords. I've been to that country called Czechoslovakia that has never existed in their lifetime...

So a good initial question might be “What areas are you looking at for buying your new home?”.  You should always start the conversation with a question and make sure each reply you send to them ends with a question.  This keeps the conversation going.

Julie MoorheadIt's the Next Generation
June 1, 2010
Julie Moorhead, Edina Realty; Annandale, Minnesota
That Next Generation is now entering the real estate profession in droves. They are creative and energetic, turn things upside down and refuse to conform to the traditions of "the way we do real estate." They are cheerfully ignorant of these traditions and care more about their peers than their fellow practitioners.
