At Zillow, we're quite proud of the fact that in only a year and a half, we've grown into one of the most visited real estate websites on the Internet -- without spending any advertising money. But this prohibition on advertising expenditure doesn't extend to our communications with real estate professionals. We spend a lot of money on conferences, trade shows, and now online advertising to tell real estate professionals about our services. And now Active Rain is in the toolkit.

This week, Zillow started advertising on Active Rain. Why? Because we have a great story to tell real estate professionals, and this is a great place to reach them! If you want to learn more about how you can use Zillow to improve your business, please visit our website.

I'll let you know in a few weeks how effective the ads are for us.

Update: Just wanted to clarify one thing -- In my opinion, Active Rain will likely turn out to be an effective place for a company trying to market TO REAL ESTATE PROFESSIONALS. Zillow is definitely in that category -- we are trying to get the word out to people like YOU that we have a lot of great tools waiting for you on Zillow. If you're trying to market your services to consumers, obviously don't advertise on Active Rain -- advertise on Zillow or other consumer-facing websites.

Spencer, Thanks for supporting ActiveRain. Without supports we may have this wonderful networking outlet at our hands to utilize.

I am curious....I have entered a large amount of homes in the Dupage County area which is located just west of Chicago, and have found the prices listed to be off a fair amount. Do you have less comps here in the Downers Grove area in Illinois? What is it that makes it more accurate. I use this for an everyday evaluation for my customers.

Spencer, this is my first week on ActiveRain and I happen to see your ad for Zillow.com.  I thought that your service was only for home evaluation for the consumer.  But to my surprise I see that you give free listings to Realtors!  I am using your site and am happy to have found you.  Thanks so much!
