Last week I had the pleasure of spending time with an old friend that I haven't seen in 25 years.
Julie and I met when we were 11 at summer camp. That was a long time ago! We were the best of friends. We even dated a pair of cousins, had sleepovers and then lost touch for a couple of years.
In our first year of college, we ended up two doors away from each other in the dorm at U of Miami because the rooms were assigned alphabetically. It was just dumb luck. We became close all over again.
Then Julie to moved to Los Angeles. I was in New York. As luck would have it, I moved to Los Angeles a few years later and we became close yet again. We were so close that Julie was in the recovery room when my son was born.
I moved back to New York and Julie moved to Toronto. The last time I saw her was about 1986. My son was a little boy. Though we didn't see each other, we kept in touch through the years via email, FB and phone.
Last week Julie came to Florida and stayed with me. We had a blast. We looked at old photos and laughed the whole time. It was like we had seen each other yesterday. Richard said it was like having two of me around! Oh, and Julie is a realtor in Toronto, so I've told her all about Active Rain. Hopefully, she will be blogging soon.
Old friends are something to be treasured.
