Here's a drawing I did of an actor who portrayed Jesus in a tv mini-series. It is now hanging in my church. Ignore the glare from the glass. let me know what you think...

Amber, You are truly an extremely talented woman.  The drawing is awesome.  It looks so much like my image of Jesus.  Wonderful and great testimony.  Thanks SO much for sharing your beautiful drawing. I love it.

Thanks, everyone, for your nice comments...

Kay- I don't really see Jesus when I look at it, I see the actor. But most people see Jesus, and "art" is one of those subjective things, so that's okay.

Thanks, Dave. I try hard not to forget where my talent comes from, and to use it to make God happy.

Tracy- that is an easy question! I can't make enough money drawing (or writing, which is a stronger passion for me than my drawing) to pay my family's bills. Besides, I am also passionate about real estate (most of the time). I believe that we are to do everything with passion and energy, and to the best of our abilities. heck, when I was "just" making donots every morning, it was my goal to be the best donut cook around!

Stacey- I actually have several people I know who are just waiting for me to replicate that drawing for them, as they want to buy a copy, they like it so much. by the way, sell that house I have on the corner of Hamrick and Hawthorne for me- the bank is getting antsy!

I think you are a very talented artist with more than much promise. I can see why the church leadership agreed to display the portrait.

Amber.....

It is a fantastic picture... but sadly, Jesus was NOT handsome...it says so in Isaiah....

GBY sis!!

=-)

Alexander, Where does Isaiah say that? I heven't ever heard that before! I thought the Bible specified he was the perfect human, so I always imagine him being very handsome, as well. Of course, to my mind, he would look a lot more middle-eastern in complexion and features. That's probably part of the reason I only see the actor when I look at the drawing I did.

I personally believe that, if a person's appearance were what was so important, we would have been given full descriptions in the Bible. that is not what is important to god, though, so it shouldn't be so important to us...

Amber - I think you are very talented!  If I had half your talent, I wouldn't be selling real estate.

Amber, the Lord has truly blessed you, I have a feeling you do it for yourself though, alot of times our hobbies wouldn,t beenjoyable if we had to make a living from them. But givng them away and donating your pictures to the Church so they can be a blessing for others is a wonderful gesture.

The problem with most of the portraits of Jesus though is that he was a middle eastern Jew who spent the first thirty years of his life living and working as part of a carpenters family and few of the portraits portray him that way.

But Alex Just because he wasn,t handsome doesn,t mean he wasn,t beautiful

Amber, The Lord has truly gifted you with an awesome talent. Why not reproduce these into note cards and sell them at your church for fundraising...The proceeds could go toward one of your church ministries to the poor.

That's funny, Ginger. My pastor asked me a few weeks ago if I would have time to draw something for a Christmas card, so that Saturday I drew 2, and he had them made into Christmas cards which we are selling at the church. He is talking to another artist there about us getting together and doing t-shirts and maybe a calendar. I am assuming he means a calendar for 2009, because there is no way I can get several done for an '08 one!

Wow, I have been looking for Jesus all my life and finally found him, but he was a Hispanic Man working as the assistant manager at McDonalds in Los Angeles, you can go meet him too, he works swing shift on South and Figueroa. Usually in the evenings. He even has a name tag to prove he is Jesus, I am sorry he looks nothing like your picture, my guess is that you got a little confused, and did not realize Jesus is a Hispanic name in California.

I must have been confused, Lance. Actually, I met Jesus in Germany years ago. He was in the motor pool with my ex. And when he rotated out, a few months later there was another Jesus who came in. I loved the accents! I guess it goes to show that, no matter where you go, Jesus is always close by...
