If my mom had only known what a curious individual I would turn out to be, I'm sure she would've named me George.  Well, I just can't help but trying things out to see how they work?  It's just the way I'm wired I guess.

When I saw that ActiveRain was offering an opportunity to advertise within the site that I already believe in, I thought this is just FABULOUS!  What better way to target all those individuals that I already know I'd like to work with anyway?

These are the results of what you will see I named "First Ad Campaign - Test"

I got a lot of Views/Impressions for my $50.00.  However, my website traffic showed little to no increase from those views.  Is that the way it works?  Shouldn't I have noticed an increase in web traffic??  I mean, good golly... even if only 1% of these "hits" resulted in additional web traffic, that would be 506 NEW visitors to our website.  Now, who of us wouldn't pay $50 to have an additional 506 visitors in a 3 week period??

I'm not complaining mind you... I'm just wondering if I'm missing something?

REVISED:  I forgot to mention that I had 35559 impressions.  Which I believe means someone "clicked" on the ad.  Even if they didn't "stay" on our website, you'd think they would still "register" as a visit right?

I would assume that a view happens whenever it flashes on the screen but in the month or so that the advertisements have been in place I have gotten to the point that I don't even notice them.

Hey Dan:  Yes, I'm sure you're right (or at least I think so).  But the part I left out (and will edit) is that I had 35559 impressions.  Now, those are "actual" clicks on the ad aren't they?

Sue,

No, impressions are times the ad is shown. Give me a call when you have a chance and I will see if we can get your ad targeted a little bit better. If you were running it across the whole network, you were probably getting impressions which weren't doing you any good. I'll explain if you call me.

Sue-This is the first time I've heard about this service. It sounds interesting.  I was in Vegas just a couple days ago.  I thought about you and wished that I could meet you.  Maybe next time.  I hope everything is going great for you.

Hi Julie:  I think it has a lot of potential once I figure out how it works.  (as with most things)  Looking forward to meeting you the next time you're in Las Vegas.

I am not sure how this works either.  Sue, were you able to get a better understanding of how it worked from Bob??  When you find out, I would like to know also.

Sue,

Sorry I missed your call. Will you be at the NAR convention next week? Are you coming to our party? If you are, I'll see you there. If not, I'll call you on tuesday before we leave?

Kimberly: I will be happy to share the info once I learn more.

Bob:  No problem.  Unfortunately I am in Idaho expanding our business right now and won't be in Vegas next week. Imagine that, living in Vegas and miss the NAR in Vegas?

If you can call Tuesday, that would be awesome.

Sue: I have had better luck with google ad words. I run a $100/ month small campaign on google. (Pay per clicks) I set up a specific campaign to the area I sell real estate. I normally get about 400,000 impressions on google, out of those 400,000 I get about 120-160 clicks onto my website, and out of those clicks I get about 10-14 people that sign in with their contact information. I have actually sold property to clients that found me on google and signed into my webiste. Feel free to call or email me if you need more advice on this as I would be happy to explain more to you!

Hi George:  Thank you for your comment & insight.  I have not had great luck with my pay per click campaigns, but maybe I should revisit the idea.  Those are great statistics you have going on there!
