Matt Flynn Who? If you're from Wisconsin, and you like football, yesterday may have just been one of the best days of your life, and it was a great day to set a tone for the New Year.
In an almost-perfect season, the groans at Lambeau were audible when it was announced Aaron Rodgers wasn't going to start. And it was COLD, besides. Well, sure, makes sense. Healthy starters for the playoffs are more important than beating the Lions, right?
Four hours later, watching Matt Flynn walk off the field with tears in his eyes taught us to never, ever believe in the impossible. Six touchdowns? A new franchise record from someone who has started twice playing against a division rival that has already secured a playoff ticket?
Packers win 45-41 over the Detroit Lions to take the team to a franchise-best 15-1. What an incredible way to ring in a new year.
If yesterday taught me anything, let me start to believe that my expectations MAY be exceeded in 2012. Let me not settle for what worked in the past. This year is going to be a "new normal" for Door County properties. If watching Mr. Rodgers all year from the bench allowed Matt Flynn to come in and perform the way he did, let me remember to learn from my collegues each and every week and remember that I sure don't know it all (especialy in this constantly changing world).
Proud to be a cheesehead this morning after the final week of the regular season.
