The AR Cookbook....enter your favorite recipes here for all to enjoy.

With so many wonderful recipes showing up on the Ar network, I thought it would be fun to start a cooking site where we can all post our favorite recipes.  I would like to eventually design a cookbook for the AR community.

It will be in sections based on the type of recipes that are submitted.  I would like to have about 500 recipes in this particular cook book.

Some ideas that would be nice are, "fast and easy," "recipes that take less than 15 minutes to prepare (for those night's when we are tired and it's late when we get home)," "low calorie recipes (that actually taste good)," "International foods," "original drink recipes," "UNIQUE SPREADS FOR OPEN HOUSES (is of particular interest to me)," and anything you wish to submit.

Wouldn't this eventually be a great gift at the closing table...there will be a decorative page in the beginning of each book for your personalized "Thank you" message to your customers...you can staple your business card there and they will always be able to find you...because they will use our fabulous entries, I feel sure!

Please read and understand the rules...and please don't make fun of my "HOT DOG!"

Everyone is welcomed to post here.

Bon Appetit!

Thanks Jonelle,

Please feel free to put your favorites on here, this will be fun...I'll be checking daily - I love to cook and I have my own personal cookbook that I am currently writing.  I have about 350 recipes in it so far...the recipe's posted here will be exclusively for the AR cookbook!

Great idea Karen!  I've helped with a couple of church cookbooks, the last one I was in charge of...it's a massive undertaking though.  I will definitely submit a couple of recipes and purchase the book when done.

Hi Karen,  If someone likes "meat and potatoes" this is for them.  My mother makes this for me and it is one of my "all time" favorite dishes.  Every time I eat it I wish someone was over to see how good it is.

Pick-Me-Up Hot Dish

1 lb. ground chuck

1 small onion, chopped

1 small red pepper chopped

¾ t. salt

1/8 t. pepper

2 T. chili sauce or catsup

2 T. soy sauce

1 T. prepared mustard

1 17 oz. can apricot halves, drained and diced

Potatoes (mashed)

In a large skillet, brown the beef, stirring frequently.  Add onion, red pepper, salt, pepper, chili sauce, soy sauce and mustard.  Stir and cook until onion is golden brown, stir in apricots.  Place the meat mixture in a 8 x 8 metal baking dish (should be about 1 inch thick.  Cover with mashed potatoes (1 inch thick) and bake in a preheated 400 degree oven for 25 min.

(You can use some apricot jam with slightly thickened apple juice instead of the canned apricots)

Hi Karen,  It is sweet and spicy--but not in a hot way--just a nice blend.  I was just thinking about one time I was raving to a friend about a lentil soup recipe I used and so the next time I made it I gave her some and she wasn't crazy about it.

If you need more recipes I have a good plum torte recipe.

Leslie,

I would like to have at least 500 recipes...send the ones you like.  As many as you want.  This is a virgin group, I just started it yesterday.

Hi Karen,
I will post recipes here and continue to post to the old Recipes group also.  It would be nice if the 2 groups could be combined--there are sooo may AR groups.  :0)  You are welcome to use any recipes for this AR cookbook that I have posted on my site previously.

Hi Karen,
The other group is "Recipes" - You can scroll through the recipes there or I can give you the links.  I do not want to advertise them here on your site without your consent.

I would love the links to your recipes if I can use them in my future AR cook book.  When I see it on my email, I save it to my AR recipe folder...I guess the "Recipe" group founder won't mind???

Hi Karen,
I thought of an easier way for you to find them.  Go to my home page and then to my blog --on the right side of the page are my "tags" --there is one called "recipes by Cynthia Tilghman Onslow County home specialist" - that will give you all I have posted on AR.  I think there are 15.  If you have a problem, getting them, let me know.

I am so excited to find this group!  I love recipes - especially the ones that are fabulous yet easy!  I'll be sending along some family favorites over the next few days!  And I can't wait to try some of the recipes already posted.

Thanks!

Karen, Are you planning to print a cookbook, or will it be an ebook? Originals only, right?

Ginger and Roger,

It is for originals only please, I plan to print it in hardback form.  The idea being you can give it as a gift at the closing table, the first page will be for you to write a little note to your customers and attach a business card. So, if for some reason in the future they cannot remember your name they will remember that you gave them a cookbook and inside, they will still have your contact information.
