...naturally, location is the key. If you are one of those fortunate residents in Boca Raton, Florida, you could get as much as $1 million for your mobile home if it's sitting by the ocean.
According to recent reports, a mobile home park on the Atlantic (Briny Breezes) will sell for as much as $510 million. In order for this sale to go thru, at least 67% of its population needs to be willing to sell. Despite the willingness of the board of directors eagerness to sell, this sale will not be successful unless the residents agree to sell. These residents need to make their decision by January 10, 2007.
The $510 million asking price would be divided amongst all 488 members of the 43-acre site. Though the developers, Ocean Land has not said what it plans to build on the site, rumors have it that they would build high-rise condos at the site.
Since the '30s, house trailers of some kind have been on the Palm Beach County property. However, in recent decades, many Florida beaches have proved far too pricey for mobile-home parks, and some communities have forbidden them through zoning.
Briny park, as it is known, is ideally located and was becoming increasingly noticeable as a throwback, particularly as the coast has become lined with ostentatious mansions and million-dollar condos.
Last fall, Briny Breezes became well known to some when an anonymous offer for $500 million was made for the property. With an attractive offer, residents then decided to seek competitive bids - four bidders paid the $20,000 registration fee and submitted proposals by the October 15th deadline.
Holy smokes. A million bucks for a mobile. I'd sell mine in a heartbeat!
Land baby, it's all about the right land at the right time!
