Jamie and Lilian Caulk Memorial Project- Please Support AR Member Missy Caulk

Sally Cheeseman is the reason I joined ActiveRain in June 2007. Cyndee Haydon and Missy Caulk are the reasons I stayed with ActiveRain and started to learn how to blog. I spend hours on the phone with Cyndee and Missy learning the AR ropes, nooks and crannies of getting around the rain. We had connected right away because we are all homeschoolers. Cyndee and Missy introduced me to other Rainers who were also homeschoolers like Todd Clark, Jason Crouch and others who are not blogging on AR anymore. missy caulk realtor ann arbor

Missy and I were like long lost friends. She is one of my very best friends on and off of ActiveRain. We trust each other and can call on each other to talk about anything. In fact, I was sworn to secrecy about Christa dating Bob Stewart because we did not want rumors to start. Missy wanted Bob and Christa to be the ones that told the world they were in love.  Missy and I share the same maiden name and we are positive we are related through our lineage somewhere, somehow.

Missy Caulk is the strongest mother and woman I know. She has been through so much and yet her faith in God just gets stronger and clearer. She knows God has a plan and she trusts him in his plan even though that is not clear in times of grief.

Most people on AR know this but just in case you did not: Missy lost one of her sons, Jamie Caulk who was 27 years old in a car crash in October. It was a struggling and prayerful time as Jamie fought for life on life support. No parent should ever have to watch their own child die. We are supposed to be the ones that die first. But through that loss came an amazing strength that Missy and Christa and the rest of the Caulk family not only exhibited but more than that, they became a light for Christ in their time of sorrow and grief. Everything happens for a reason and I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that the testimony and the faith that the Caulk family lights the world with has brought others closer to God and Christ. It has also comforted other parents who were struggling with finding the forgiveness and accepting what the Lord's plan is for their own children.

Then the unthinkable happened just a short time after Jamie left this life for the next, Missy's granddaughter who was only 11 weeks old, Lilian Caulk joined her brother on the other side. She died suddenly. The smile that melted the pain from Christa's and Missy's hearts was whisked away and another void was ushered in. How do you take losing two of your family, close family in a span of such a short time without being resentful or angered. That is not Missy. That is not Christa. That is not the Caulk family.

Once again the Caulk family became the source of strength for others in their time of loss. They reached out to those in pain of losses of their own. They lifted up those souls and let go to let God handle the details.

caulk memorial fundWe all wanted to do something special for Missy Caulk and Bob and Christa Stewart as well as the rest of the Caulk family. We wanted to do something memorable that would allow the flame of the Caulk family faith live on. So Carol Grubb came up with her idea and has put together a memorial fund. We are raising money to dedicate a park bench in the name of Jamie and Lilian Caulk.

It is going to cost about $3000 to do this project and we have raised about $700 of it so far. Please see if it is in your heart to donate to the Caulk Memorial Park Bench fund.

Please send your check for any amount to:

The Jamie and Lilian Caulk Memorial Fund

Mail your check to:

Carol Grubb, 3647 W Greenook Drive, Ann Arbor, MI 48103

or you can send a donation through paypal to cyndeehaydon( at sign) gmail.com- please add the fund name in the memo line.

Carol would also like to have your mailing address and names so you can receive the invitation to the park bench presentation scheduled for May of 2012 sometime.

Thank you for taking time to read this and please help us raise the money for the Caulk memorial park bench.

Thank you so much Katerina, gotta love those google alerts!

We are so grateful for this endeavor from our real estate community, social media and blogging friends. Christa is correct about us all crying tears of happiness when they came over and presented us with a photo.

There is not a second of every day we do not miss them, grieve for them and wish Jamie and Lillian were here with us. But, we grieve not without HOPE, knowing that in His time we will all be together again in our eternal home.

We as a family have been reading HEAVEN by Randy Alcorn and it is very comforting. By God's grace I will be able to crank real estate back up in the coming weeks.

Can you change Carol's zip code to 48103, that is Ann Arbor? I just would hate for folks to send it to zip code and then it get sent back, then sent again.

Love you!

Nicholas- Thank you for featuring this post in silent majority. Missy is such an amazing example of faith and I know beyond a doubt that through her faith in all of this, that she has brought more souls back to Christ's fold. I know someone who is now closer to God because of this whole trial and I am so happy for him for his growth in the gospel. Katerina

Thank you for the  blog Katerina.  It is beautifully written and heartfelt.

We had read Missy's blogs and all so when we had a strong Christian homeschooling client moving to MI, where did we want to refer them? Missy, of course.  Our clients moved to an area Missy didn't service so she referred to another agent who helped them buy their new home.

So when on Google+ I read what had happened, it broke my heart.  But with their faith being so evident, it is comforting that they are so strong in their faith.  Everyone knows it has to be hard and sorrowful but God will dry our tears and he knows our sorrow.

We appreciate you spreading the word  about the bench as it is such a good idea.

Christa- The one thing that you can count on is that with the faith you have, you can endure anything. You don't think you can as you look in from outside but when you are in it, the LORD is carrying you on his shoulders. You are not walking that path alone. And GOD promises he will NEVER give us a trial we can not bear. It is all for our good although so many times we cry out that we have no idea what good can possibly come of this. But in the end, when we have traveled the road, when we look back on that tear stained path, we see clearly that the path was always meant to be, everything in the universe happens for a reason. Your strenght and faith Christa- has transformed lives. Remember always that the shephard leaves his sheep of 99 to go to get the lost 1.

Missy- :) You know I  love you! I want to be there too for the presentation. I have two graduations around the same time though:( One here and one in San Antonio.

You are an amazing woman Missy. I know that Heavenly Father is SO pleased with you and your faith in him. Yes, we are going to be together with our families for eternity and that gives us solice. Your example is shining brightly and you will not know now or here how many lives you touched through your example nor how many souls you brought back into the light. You know when Abraham was about to give up Isaac, how hard that must have been for him but how many blessings from them all the way down to us today were given because of the faith they both had in that experience. Then God giving us his Son to die for us, knowing the pain he would bear. The cross we bear is nothing in comparison and if he can do this for us, then certainly we can trust him to be there for us and even if we never know the reasons why, we know it is for our good. But I think in the case of the Caulk family, we do know the reason why:) Katerina
