Tanger Outlets has broken ground and is said to open in October 2012! This is wonderful news for our area. With more jobs coming to the area, means more home buyers and this is always a great economic booster!
When it's completed, the Tanger Outlet Center is expected to produce 900 full-and part-time jobs. It is also expected to become a major tourist draw as have been seen with the Tanger Outlet Center in San Marcus.
It is predicted that the Tanger Outlet Center in Texas City will generate $8 million in yearly sales tax, create 400 construction jobs and provided the above stated 900 full-and-part time jobs.
With Galveston luring millions of tourist yearly, just alone the traffic on I-45 will bring in many passer bys.
As of now the closet Outlet Center in our area is located in Cypress and we all know this can be a drive. With the building of the Tanger Outlet Center just a few miles from Clear Lake City, League City, Dickinson, Pearland, and Seabrook shopping just got a lot easier.
October 2012 can’t come soon enough! There will be two phases to the project. Phase one of the Tanger-branded center will have 350,000 square feet of space for more than 90 brand name and designer outlet stores. Phase two on the 55-acre site could add another 120,000 square feet for a total of 470,000 square feet of space.
The stores include but are not limited to: Banana Republic Factory Store, Brooks Brothers Factory Store, Calvin Klein, Gap Factory Store, Guess Factory Store, Nine West, Perry Ellis, Polo Ralph Lauren Factory Store, Puma, Tommy Hilfiger and Under Armour.
The mall will be divided into four districts, “where shoppers will meander through meticulously landscaped promenades, under trellis and bris soleil,” which converge in an open air center court called the Gulf Coast Promenade.
