Lake Nona is the Place to Be!

By
Real Estate Agent with Wemert Group Realty

Lake Nona is making headlines...this is the place to be in Central Florida.  Recently successful in wooing some major players in the medical research field, Lake Nona is on its way to national prominence.  Beautiful lakes and wildlife, along with smart development have set the stage for a very special community in which to work and play.

MEDICAL CITY- Setting their sites on rivalling Houston's medical development, Lake Nona has obtained 4 major players...The Burnham Institute for biomedical research is already up and running in a nearby facility while construction is underway for its lab.  Additionally, UCF has broken ground on its medical school.  A VA hospital and Nemours Pediatric Hospital are in the plans as well.  Connected to the medical cluster is a city park currently under construction.  This huge park will boast lakes and ponds for fishing and canoing, an equestrian center for horse lovers and a fun water park.  An entire community of health and wellness is the goal.

NEW DEVELOPMENT-  Upscale dining and shopping is planned for the parcel along NorthLake Park on the western edge of Narcoossee Rd.  Trendy restaurants, boutiques and cafes will reflect a downtown Winter Park feel.  I've heard hints of a Starbucks at the corner of Narcoosee Rd. and Northlake Park.  BIG NEWS.... A HUGE OPEN AIR mall will be opening with big box stores such as Super Target  (did I hear a collective cheer?)  Travelling 30 minutes for the nearest Target will soon be history.  This mall will house numerous restaurants, stores and services and will rival that of Waterford Lakes in terms of size and scale.  Additionally, Eagle Creek is currently leasing over 9000 sqft. of retail space.  Nona Walk at Lake Nona's town center will have some retail and restaurant space as well as a fitness center and other services.

OPENING VERY SOON-  Outback Steakhouse (G'Day Mate!), Natures Table and Quiznos Subs.

CURRENTLY ENJOYED- Cariera's Neighborhood Italian (my favorite dish is the chicken piccata- add asparagus and artichokes), Plum Tree Chinese and Sushi, Barnies Coffee Tea and Wine Bar, Subway Sub Shop, the new Pizza Hut/Wing Street and Duncan Donuts.  Home Depot recently opened supplying our home improvement needs.

SCHOOLS- Lake Nona/Moss Park is home to two currently Top-rated schools...Northlake Park Elementary and Moss Park Elementary- just opened in the North Shore at Lake Hart neighborhood off Moss Park Rd.  Middle School students attend Odyssey Middle School (currently A-rated) in Vista Lakes.  High School students are bussed across town to Oak Ridge High School.  This brings up a terrific point...new schools are on the way!  Slated for opening in 2009 is a new middle school and high school (Hooray!).  Both schools will be constructed in the Eagle Creek area and will boast state of the art facilities.  Also opening in the very near future is Lady Bird Academy on Moss Park Rd. for our preschoolers.  Nearby is Pine Castle Christian Academy...a pre-K-12th grade school accomplished in academics, sports programs and fine arts.

GOLF COURSES- Lake Nona, North Shore at Lake Hart and Eagle Creek are the best courses in Central Florida!

LAKES- Enjoy fishing, boating and watersports in our numerouse lakes.  Lake Nona and Lake Buck are within the Lake Nona development.  Beautiful Lake Hart is bordered by North Shore at Lake Hart and Moss Park Reserve and is connected to another great lake- Lake Mary Jane.  Isle of Pines residents enjoy community access to Lake Mary Jane, or it can be accessed by the public at Moss Park.  Other area lakes include Lake Whipporwhill (beautiful sandy bottom lake- great for watersports!), Lake Ajay, Lake Hendon, Fells Cove and Incredible East Lake Toho.

MOSS PARK is a large state park with incredible camping (under a breathtaking canopy of oaks), lake access, swimming, beach, playgrounds and picnic pavilions.

CHURCHES- Spring of Life United Methodist Church recently opened its doors to its brand new facility on Moss Park Rd.  Crosspointe Church meets at Northlake Park Elementary.  The worldwide headquarters to Campus Crusade for Christ and Wycliffe Bible Translaters are located on Moss Park Road as well.

GREAT NEIGHBORHOODS-Lake Nona, Bellanona, Northlake Park, NonaWalk, North Shore at Lake Hart, Eagle Creek, Moss Park Reserve, East Park, Nona Crest, The Enclave at Moss Park, Moss Park Ridge, Live Oak Estates, Isle of Pines, Majestic Oaks, Lake Ajay Estates, Hammock Pointe, Mill Stream.

LOCATION- Lake Nona/Moss Park area is located in Southeast Orlando 5 min. from Orlando International Airport.  Two major highways are accessible, the 528 and the 417....15 min. to downtown Orlando or Disney, 20 min. to the beaches.  Zip codes are 32832 and 32827.
