I just can't make this stuff up.  I viewed a home today with some clients and the home was very clean and nice. However, when we walked into the living room, it was rather small and had a theme- Deer heads. Yep, that was the theme. The couch was covered in deer pictures and the wall had several of them mounted.  The table in the room had what I assume was a fresh one that hadn’t been mounted. It was just sitting on the table staring at me.  We also saw other various skulls and animal trophies.

I am not opposed to hunting, but this freaked me out a little. What freaked me out more was when we went downstairs we saw a very large gun case. I have no idea what type of guns these were because I am not a hunter, but they were big- and the case had a key in it, but was left open. That is a huge safety issue. I was just imagining children viewing this home, or criminals, or crazy people, for that matter.

As we entered one of the bedrooms, the ammo was lined up very neatly all over one of the desks. It was very orderly, but out in plain sight. I found that to be weird.

Needless to say, the clients were not interested. One of them has seen hundreds of homes in her lifetime and she commented that this will be one she will not ever forget.

Hi Kristi - We see the deer heads, and others, a lot more often than we should - there's a certain type that is completely attached to that kind of display and won't listen to reason, but the loose guns and ammo is just plain stupid, and I'd certainly give some strong feedback on that one.

Hunting Trophies, Mounted Swordfish, etc. - that is not uncommon (although it should be put away and out of sight).

But leaving Guns and Ammo unlocked and available?

That is about as smart as Sellers/Tenants who leave their bong and their drug paraphernalia sitting on the coffee table.

Sounds like that home needed a little staging.......let's remove the deer heads and the ammo so the children don't have nightmares or pick up ammunition or a loaded gun.  Is this guy for real?

Dick- I did give the feedback. I hope they at least lock the gun case from now on.

Fred- I have seen plenty of hunting trophies on the wall and I sort of understand maybe one in a room, but this room had several and it was a tiny room. Plus, the deer head that was not mounted and on the table was bizarre.

Kay- Yes, staging and deer head/gun de-cluttering would be great for this one.
