The Magic of Gingerbread at A Longwood Christmas

Longwood Gardens, in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania, is a very special place to visit at any time of the year.  The 1,000+ acres of gardens and the very large Conservatory are wonders to behold when filled with beautiful flowers and plants.

The annual event during the Christmas holiday period is called A Longwood Christmas.  This year, the outstanding Longwood staff has demonstrated what can be done with gingerbread.

You really need to visit Longwood Gardens.  Take your family, with cameras in hand, for a wonderful experience.

Roy, I'm always amazed at the creativity of so many people.  We always just make gingerbread men for the holidays - maybe this will inspire me to try something new - but I need an instruction sheet as I'm good at following instructions, just not at being creative.

How to Make Gingerbread Ornaments at Home

Construction Gingerbread Recipe

All Purpose Flour          6 ¾ cups
Ground Cinnamon        1 Tablespoon
Ground Ginger              1 ½ teaspoons
Salt                                ½ teaspoon
Light Corn Syrup           1 ½ cups
Light Brown Sugar        1 ¼ cups firmly packed
Butter                               1 cup

Yield: 1 Gingerbread House or a lot of ornaments!

Good Friday morning to all.  Dolores and I enjoyed a trip to the Baltimore Museum of Art on Thursday.  We recommend a visit if you are going to be in the Baltimore area.  The museum is a one hour drive from our home in Kentlands, in Montgomery County, Maryland.  

Be sure to schedule lots of time for personal interests this year.
