I just got home from Whole Foods at Tenley Circle.  They did the equivalent of a "5 Wow" service.

When I got carded on my 30th birthday, I was really flattered.

Then, as I grew into the "woman of a certain age" stage, it stopped happening.

Now that I'm beyond the "certain age' stuff, it happened, and I was stunned!

Today, when I got to the checkout with groceries and a couple of bottles of vino, the hunky kid manning the cash register said, "I need to see your ID."

"You're kidding, right?"

"Nope.  If there's any doubt at all, we have to ask."

Ahhh!  And he didn't even call me "ma'am"!

His mother raised him right!

Pat, I had that happen to me recently at CVS, made my day. Especially since I ran into a past client there and her son called me grandma. All in one trip to CVS. Thankfully, I was carded last.

I knew it was all over when the clerk at McDonalds gave me the FREE coffee for seniors.  I didn't even ask.

Pat, I'd card ya , young thang!

ROFL Lenn!   But I have a bad habit, I call all kinds of ladies Ma'am.  My mother would smack me if I didn't.

At least if someone asks if your cup is half full or half empty, you'll be able to respond that it doesn't matter since you have another bottle!  Enjoy the vino!

Whatever happened to drunk blogging?

I got carded last year at the grocery store, and it was a thrill.  I asked the girl, "How old do you think I am?" She said, "Well, I know you're under 30."  I said, "God bless you!"  I was 36 at the time, so not out of the realm of possiblity, but still a good feeling.

That is always a great feeling - I know that store - my son shops there and I have been there many times!!! They are always friendly, but they would have never carded you if they did not think it was necessary!!! YOU GO GIRL!!!!!

Great for you. I like to think I don't look my age, but I've never been carded. Insult to injury last couple of years ma'am is being thrown around.

Patricia- I get carded at Disney's Pleasure Island to get into some of the clubs, I don't drink but you have to be 21 to enter some of the clubs there. I was flattered! Enjoy the moment! Katerina

Patricia, congrats on getting carded! Some friends and I were just talking about the first time someone called us "Ma'am". It's hilarious when I think about aging. (At one point in life, I wanted to be older. You remember those days, "I can't wait until I'm 18..." Now...I wish I could turn back the hands of time!)

Hi Patricia:  What a great thing to happen.  Isn't it just so funny how something like that can really make your day ?  Good for you !  You need to post that on your Capital Homes blog, too.

Pat, this is why I prefer dining at dimly-lit restaurants.  My chances of getting carded are greatly improved that way..

I get a kick when ladies that are obviously my own age ask for my ID and give me a wink.

Missy, that CVS clerk timed it well!

Lenn,  I remember getting a geezer ticket for the movies and feeling hurt that they just sold it to me, no questions asked!

Jeff, If you're raised military, 'ma'am" is just fine!

And Amanda, I think they frown on drunk blogging around here - 2nd offense and they make you put a breathalyser on your computer!

LOL !!!!   Gee - I would have carded you!  You are really over 30??  Wow I never would have guessed.  :-)

I actually got carded about 3 weeks ago.  I was like "Yeah - I look 19 right?!"  LOL
