I was just passing a bank recently when I saw on the window an advertisement which said, "DECLINED - Do you need a second chance?"  Wow, I thought to myself, that is good.  I sat there in traffic for a couple of minutes waiting for the light to change to green.  I sat there thinking, everyone needs a second chance.  I know I always do.  I know my clients who have been coming to me lately about their real estate problems with foreclosures, shot sales, not being able to refinance or sell, they need a second chance.  I just meet with a young man who had been in trouble most of his youth and is now trying to get his life together, he needs a second chance.

If you are reading this online right now, you live in a world that is moving so quickly with information flying all over the world in milliseconds.  Our world has never seen this kind of progress and innovation in such a short period of time.  Our culture in America and Canada is also in high gear with work, school, and play.  We almost don't have the time to smell the roses.  We do not think or meditate on the here and now.

It is no wonder that so many people stick their heads in a hole not wanting to see what is going on.  We need time to meditate on what is really important in life.  Failures are a part of life.  When we get denied or if we fail, we need a second chance.  I personally believe in a God of second chances.  In fact He is a God of 3rd, 4th, 5th chances.

Let's give grace to our families, to our friends, to our clients, and to our communities!

Let's be people who will help people get second chances!

Ernie,

Nice post!

I believe we all need a 2nd chance. As the song from the band "38 special" stated, "a heart needs a 2nd chance. don't say it's over..... Why can't you forget about, forget the past".

As long as we can help those forget their past and move on with their lives to a better future, we've done our duty. During times like these, many people need reassurances and comfort because they feel as though the world is coming down on them. If we can lift their spririts and change their negative thoughts and give them hope to overcome these times, that would be the most wonderful thing that can happen to them.......giving them a 2nd chance.....because every heart needs one. The pain may be there but the aches will be gone.

Dave, nice comment!  I agree with you 100% on this.  Not that I have disagreed with you before.  LOL

People need to know right now that it is okay, they are not alone and others are going through something similar to what they are experiencing.  Time does heal hurts and we do have a second chance to get it right.

2nd chance.... as my pastor said Sunday.  Everyone needs a Control-Alt-Delete key in their life!

Joan, I like that, "everyone needs a Control-Alt-Delete key in their life!"  It sounds like it was a good message.

You are right! It's amazing that I am reading your post. Just this morning I was telling my wife to be more forgiving of others and reminiscing on my youth when so many people gave me a second chance.

GOD WORKS IN MYSTERIOUS WAYS!

Gary, God does work in mysterious way!  I appreciate your comments and it is timely since so many people are going through so many things right now.  Everyday, I deal with people in hardship and my heart goes out to them.  This is where this blog came from.  Thanks for commenting!

You're absolutely right. The downtrodden, the poor, the sick, the meek they all need a 2nd chance.

But guess what, our Heavenly Father has already made available a 2nd chance for all of us! Praise the Lord!

Good post, Ernie! Hey BTW my step brother is a Cabrera ;-)

Ernie - another great post - straight from the heart and soul.    I doubt few of us ever get through life without needing a second chance somewhere along the way..... some are more dramatic than others, but regardess of the reason, we all need God's grace in all our daily challenges.

Thank you for your warm hearted reminders of the need to aware of those around us who need that second chance no matter what the situation.

God Bless

Hi Ernie,

I don't know if it's "progress" at all (re: "progress and innovation")... when "accomplishing" is more important than "being". How "worth" is defined societally is scary these days. The idea of "second chances" is based on who we are (our intrinsic worth) and not on our accomplishments. Thank goodness, too, or we'd never get them otherwise (or be able to logically offer them!) =)

Linda, thank for checking out this blog and commenting.  It is always good to be around other good people who helps you through these hard times.  I appreciate your encouragement in my writing.  It has been good for me to put my thoughts and feeling out there in blogs.  It is almost like therapy.  If we are feeling it, others are feeling it too.  Let's just continue to encourage people and we will all be okay!  God bless!

Sara, I agree with you that we need to value people for who they are not for just what they do or accomplish.  We are all valuable!  I appreciate your comments and thoughts!  Have a fantastic day!

Ernie:  Where would any of us be without second chances.  I think we also have an obligation to learn from our mistakes and when given a second chance, understand the importance of getting another shot.

8:03pm • #22

Donna, what a good point!  We need to learn from our mistakes and feel the gratitude of getting it.  If we miss this, then we will keep making the same mistakes.  I appreciate your thoughts on this!

Hopefully we will pass on to others what we learn along the way!

Ernie - Isn't it a wonderful thing that our Big Brother made that possible? I for one am grateful that I have been forgiven and given second chances (many chances infact)! Great message and lesson to us all that if we learn to forgive and forget like are big brother we can make this a better place to live! Thank you for your wonderful reminder and message! GBY

Ernie, well written.  I couldn't agree with you more.  Everyone at one time or another in their life has probably needed a second chance and yes, we should forgive and give them another chance.

Gilbert, I agree that it is a wonderful thing to have the opportunity to be given many chances in life!  When we forgive others I believe we give a gift to ourselves, because we get freedom from the burden we carry that goes along with not forgiving others.  Life is great when you live free from bondage!  GBY
