Business Planning for 2012-What did you do?

Earlier this week, I had the great opportunity to attend the MREA (Millionaire Real Estate Agent) Business Planning Clinic being presented by Todd Butzer, a top instructor and ambassador for Keller Williams International.

What have you done for business planning 2012? What kind of goals have you set?

One of the things that was brought up in the workshop is that often times when people set goals, they set them to high or too low. While setting your goals, make sure you don’t limit yourself and your ability to excel in the real estate world.

Business Planning can be seen through 4 different fundamental models.

1. Economic Model

2. Lead Generation Model

3. Budget Model

4. Organizational Model

Each one of these models has a different system that relates to how you are planning your business. The neat thing about ALL of these models is it puts the numbers right in your face. When used properly, it shows you how many people you need to have in your database, how many contacts you need to make, how many sales you need to have, and how many listings you need to obtain in order for you to reach your goals for 2012.

Accountability: Find an accountability partner to keep you in check with your goals. Often times when we set goals we often times find ourselves get to be so busy (come on, we’re realtors) that we lose track of the goals we have set. If you have someone that you can have keep you in check, it’s a good way to stay on track.

Believe in yourself and the things you can accomplish. I have had the great opportunity to form a real estate team as of January 1, 2012. Going from a part time agent with another full time job, to a full time realtor, to forming a 5 person team, is a big deal. And we continue to grow! It hasn’t been easy, but it has been worth it. Starting off the new year, we have had 8 new listings in the past 9 days. My team is working relentless, and we are hoping to carry it on and have a minimum of 30 listings by Family Reunion (Feb 11-15, in Orlando). YOU CAN DO IT—if you PUT YOUR MIND TO IT. It’s all about your mindset.

If you haven’t read the book Millionaire Real Estate Agent by Gary Keller, I recommend it. Follow systems, and make yourself successful. Best wishes to all in 2012!

Your post Business Planning for 2012- What did you do? brings things to TOP OF MIND.  I purchased the book Millionaire Real Estate Agent a year ago and have only read a few pages.  this reminds me to pull it of the shelf and FULLY read the thing.

It's a great, easy read, and very beneficial. Perhaps, organize a book study group in your market center--learning it together can make it easier to stay focused on getting through it!

Hi Erik.  I believe MREA has some great ideas.  However, I think that Gary Keller has revised his advice in SHIFT.

Agreed, Aimee. They are all good reads. However, I bring that book up, because its really what our business planning clinic was based on.

Great Post Erik, I totally agree with the fact that we need systems to succeed. My goal this year is to average 1 listing per week. So far so good. I have another listing appointment today. AR is helping me with the motivation peice of my business plan for 2012. All the best to you and your newly formed team. I know you will do great once you find your rhythm.
