Say it isn't so JOE LOL here is a good post that if true could change the way we all look at the various sites and social post that we make. Being a criminal minds buff I like profiling folks on FB and Twitter and I can tell you it is not hard.

HAS SOCIAL MEDIA REPLACED "BIG BROTHER"??  WHERE IS THE FIRST and NINTH AMENDMENT TO THE CONSTITUTION??

Are lenders actually looking to Facebook, Twitter, etc.,  to see who your (rich/deadbeat) friends are ...Read more HERE

Is your social media provile going to replace a standard mortgage or credit card application??

If that sounds improbable to you, think again.......

Anyone in real estate brokerage or mortgage lending has experienced buyers/applicants who have had to "clean up their credit report" because of erroneous information that reduced their credit score and caused a loan denial.  Cleaning up a credit report is an arduous process.  Now, if credit providers are going to consider social media pages, how are folks going to "clean them up"?????

Often, when a loan is denied, the mortgage company, bank doesn't provide a clear reason for the denial.  Will they now be able to say,"Negative comments on the applicant's Twitter page".

Can it be true that what your friends SAY to you or about you may influence a vendor's decision about whether OR NOT to extend credit TO YOU????

Can your friend or other social media profile be a factor in extending credit to YOU???

THINK ABOUT IT!!

We know that employers are "checking out the social media profile" of job applicants.  However, understanding that people, even credit providers are only human, are they likely to be influenced by your Twitter or Facebook profile, comments on your social media pages or, worse yet, what someone else writes ABOUT YOU??

ARE CREDIT APPLICATIONS NOW GOING TO INCLUDE IN THE CREDIT APPROVAL MATRIX a reference to any information obtained by viewing an applicant's Twitter or Facebook page???

Would the consideration of social media pages, comments, photos, etc. circumvent FAIR HOUSING laws???  Would a loan officer or credit card company have to document a credit denial??

So many questions.  So few answers.  Yet, this chilly feeling about where this could go...

THINK ABOUT IT!!

"Honey, did the bank say why they denied the mortgage loan??"

"No Dear, they just said it was based on information received."

If I looked online and somebody was basically posting something that lets me know they are stupid and do stupid stuff all the time I would not be very interested in going into business with them. Would you?

If someone post that they get drunk two or three nights a week I would expect they were not very good at paying their bills. I certainly would not be interested in loaning them money. Would you?

I agree government has gotten too big and way too involved in our business however I see no problem looking at information someone post about them-self for the world to see.
