Are you considering moving to Washington County, Oregon? Moving can be a stressful and very expensive venture, but there are ways to save money and today I'm going to give you a few ideas.
Money saving tip #1 - Instead of buying boxes from your local u-haul consider going to your local Target or Walmart and ask for them to save you some of their boxes. They have to pay to have these boxes crushed and recycled and will more than likely give them to you for free!

Money saving tip #2 - Instead of hiring a moving company to drive your stuff cross country, call long haul trucking companies and ask if you can piggy back on one of their loads for a discounted price. A lot of trucking companies would rather give you a discount than transport a half empty truck across the country.
Money saving tip #3 - Do you own more cars than you can drive to your new destination? Consider loading a car up with your stuff and putting it on an auto transport truck with other cars going across the county to dealerships. More than likely, it will be cheaper than you flying back and then driving to return, and take a lot less time.
Money saving tip #4 - Check with storage places in the town you are moving to and see if they are offering deals like "first month free". Some of these deals come with no strings attached and even if you don't stay longer than a month you pay nothing. The reason they do this is because they know most will stay much longer. This gives you a place to store your stuff while you find a home to move in to.
Hope these few moving tips saves you lots of money and makes your relocation a lot easier. For more money saving tips or to find your dream home in Washington County, Oregon please feel free to call or e-mail me anytime.

Todd, these are some great tips! Until about 10-15 years ago people didn't buy NEW boxes for packing their stuff in...we always got the used ones from the stores. And I can personally attest to the fact that the storage places stand behind their agreement on first month free. We used one for a month when we left Arizona for Nevada. We had to pay a deposit but we got EVERY dime paid out back when we moved our stuff out. The entire month was just what they said FREE. And I LOVE FREE!
