Redding Homes For Sale - TRUST? - What Does Trust Mean to You? Redding Anderson Cottonwood Relocation

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with Chain Real Estate Investments & Mortgage, Steve & Joel Chain

Trust has always been a driving force in our business beginning in 1978.  Our primary client, at the time, was a design build/architect and we thoroughly enjoyed creating his designs.  As our business grew we began to take on our own private clients. In the second and third years several of these clients had previous negative experiences with contractors. This added another dynamic to each project that required extra attention throughout the job.  It has been challenging, yet fulfilling to walk with clients working to trust again.

  • One of our clients was particularly challenged in this area.  They ultimately shared their breakthrough and appreciation with tears at the end of the project.

  • In the 1980's I shared our approach to trusting others until they prove otherwise, with one of our a subcontractors. He asked incredulously, “ You do that even the way things are in the world today?” I told him we do that because of the way things are in the world today. I don't mean being naive. I mean giving others the benefit of the doubt. I've discovered extending trust has helped some to step into a level of trust they weren't going to fulfill without it. I suppose this just proves there are those who are very responsive to someone  believing in them.

  • Trust is a remarkable and powerful quality. Perhaps it can be viewed somewhat like wealth. There are 3 things we've learned. #1 Like money only those who have it can invest it. If you have some you can make it grow. #2 Like money it can be lost. If someone has been robbed or had their trust stolen there maybe some trauma or drama to overcome to see trust restored. #3 Business is a great place to invest trust. Certainly the Real Estate profession is one of the best.

Steve, really good stuff. I agree that you really can only trust others to the degree that you have trust. You were/are a contractor. When did you get your real estate license? Do you still do both? Plus you clearly have expanded into mortgage. Do you also do insurance? It has been great to get to know you. Be well.

    Cal,

We are four generations of contractors and three genrations of real estate agents/brokers. I first considered a real estate license in 1986. We continued to gain experience  in real estate acquisition, entitlements, development and management of our own properties. Numerous opportunities developed requiring a real estate license to fully serve our clients. In 2008 I obtained my brokers license. However, I never did have a salesman's license. Joel and Steve A have since both obtained their licenses as well. While they both assist buyers and sellers the brokerage also serves to market our to-be-built homes. We stopped mortgage brokering with the advent of the NMLS. Wishing you a great week. SC

Steve...I have always shared your thoughts of "trusting others until they prove otherwise"...with a few bruises along the way I have found the philosophy well grounded.

I had an intense conversation with a young agent competing against the shark for a listing today.  I think he needs a link to this post :)
