I've been sick all week, and I must say, it's been one of my busier weeks in the past couple of months.  My phone has been ringing off the hook.  I try to ignore it and get some rest, but that didn't work.  One of my buyers called 4 times in a 5 minute period, so I called her back and we put together an offer on a house.  She constantly low-balls and each house she's written an offer on has had multiple offers, so we don't get it, and I should have just stayed in bed.

Another buyer I have been sending listings to since April decided she no longer wants a house $150-200k, but she wants 10-20 acres of land and she'll pay cash up to $1M!!  I'm glad I called her back timely.

I have another buyer who wrote an offer on a short sale property.  We're finalizing details there, but that commission is somewhere around $15k, depending on the final number, so I'm really glad I had the strength to call him back and deal with the  bank.

Do others work this hard when they're sick??  Yes, I got bored just watching tv when my phone wouldn't ring for an hour, so I would check my emails and read a couple of blogs, but I really didn't have the strength to be working as much as I did this week. Oh, and I'm writing two offers today for a couple of new contruction homes.

This week was one of those times I wish I had an assistant, but I'm sure I would have been calling every hour to check on things as I'm a control freak! At least I actually slept through the night last night!

Hey Donna, Wow you have been busy. Wish you felt better. I actually prefer to work when I'm sick, helps take my mind off of how bad I feel. Hopefully all those commission will help you feel better.

I don't mind the actual working when I'm sick, but I don't like taking the phone calls because I can't put a smile on my face and sound happy.  I sound worn out.  I was told to buy Tagament for the nausea, so I did about 20 minutes ago, and my stomach is making all kinds of noises...  the lousy weather doesn't help either...  I better be ok for one of my parties this weekend!

I was actually horribly sick for the first three weeks of November with a flu like cold which developed to bronchitis/ear infection and sinus infection.  I was in bed most of the time but was on my laptop working on systems, business plan, fielding calls and going out for the occasional meeting/showing.  I found AR during that time so I found it productive!

That's great Renee!  I'm glad you found AR as it's been a great sourse of business for me!  Being sick is almost like when you're trying to leave for a vacation (no definition computes for that word).  Whenever you're trying to get away, the phone just rings and rings and everyone wants something from you.  It's frustrating, but good!

There is sick and then there is SICK. If I'm too sick to read, then I'm to sick to talk on the phone, much less go out the door.  During recovery, when I don't want to go into the office, then I may do some phone work. I really don't want to go out with clients because it would be horrible if I passed on the cold/flu to them.

This is another great advantage of a team - they fill in when you can't. In fact, we usually send each other home at the first sign of a cold or flu - go to bed and get well.

This blog is to help educate Buyers and Sellers and even other Realtors across the country.  Each market is different and the way Real Estate is done is different.  Dallas Real Estate is completely different than California and Florida and everywhere else in between.  Some times there will be other things besides real estate as I like to rant and rave as much as the next!!  Come back often!
