Feeling a little budgetary pain from the Christmas shopping?  Newport Aquarium is ready to give you a little financial relief January 4 to February 29, 2012!  It's time for Newport Aquarium Winter Family Days!

So what's the deal with Newport Aquarium Winter Family Days?  Well basically, you get a deal on admission prices for the young ones!  Instead of  $15 for kids ages 2-12, you're only going to have to pay $2!!  That's right TWO BUCKS....just like one of those funky Thomas Jefferson bills you hardly ever see anymore!  So what's the catch?  Well you Mr. or Mrs. Adult, must pay full price ($23) and max capacity per adult is TWO kids!  You want to take more kids than that then you need to recruit some more adults to come along!

Penguins at Newport AquariumBut that trip to the aquarium gets you hours and hours of entertainment!  Featuring the Midwest's largest Jellyfish display and the recently renovated and expanded Penguin Palooza (and the daily Penguin Parade on the front plaza at 10:15 a.m. with a preshow at 10!).  Add to the fun with frogs, shark tunnels and viewing ports....and you can even TOUCH a shark (yes it's a REALLY small shark!).

It's an easy trip down to Newport Aquarium and plenty of parking available at Newport on the Levee.  The Newport Aquarium is open 365 days a year, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Liz--what a great way to help families take advantage of fun activities that all will enjoy.  Wish something like this was available in Cleveland, Buffalo or Pittsburgh as those cities are only 100 miles from Erie.

I'd pay $15 bucks to see those penguins parading.  They are gorgeous birds.  But $2 is much better, especially for the young ones.

Mary, Just guess you'll have to go to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame! :)  I've gone to Buffalo quite a bit on business, but other than Niagara Falls haven't done much touristy there....and this time of year the Falls get a bit chilly!

Evelyn, It's a pretty reasonable price overall because you can spend quite a bit of time there, and it won't be overly crowded this time of year, especially on weekdays depending on what age kid needs entertained :)

That is true Liz about all three cities at this time of year.  However, my first trip to Buffalo was during college days in January.  The falls were almost frozen.  Awesome site.
