Christmas Tree AngelRecycling Christmas Trees for Mason/Deerfield Township Residents

It was a great Christmas season, but that Scotch pine is in a bad way by now!  So if you don't live next to the woods like we do, what can you do with your Christmas tree?  Assuming we're talking a natural tree, here are your options if you live in Warren County's Mason or Deerfield Township!

Mason residents can place their trees at the curb for pickup starting Monday January 9th along with brush pickup.  Remove ALL decorations and place the cut end to the street.  Call 513.229.8500 for more information.

Deerfield Township is offering three drop-off points at local parks dusk to dawn until January 15th or you can leave curbside for Rumpke pickup.  Call 513.701.6968 for more information.

  • Cottell Park (5847 Irwin Simpson)
  • Fleckenstein Park (3834 Mason Montgomery)
  • Landen-Deerfield Park (2258 W U.S. 22/3)

When you get to the parks, look for the sectioned off and posted area.

We hope this helps with your Christmas tree disposal plans!

So Bliz what are they recycling them to?  I did see a post from one of our AR brethren that they were taking the Christmas trees at the beach and using them for beach reclaimation.  They would stack them in the dunes to catch the sand and eventually create more dunes.

Hi Bliz team,

Everyone needs to recycle of they use live trees. I had stopped useing them years ago.

Most cities now offer a recycling program for trees. They get mulched and used on city properties all over town.

Have a great day in Warren Ohio

Best. Clint McKie

Larry, No sand dunes here, so I think the typical use is chipping them into mulch.  Checked both the Mason and Deerfield Township government sites and nothing specific about the recycling.

Clint, It sure beats filling up the landfills with something that could be practically used.  Hope you had a great weekend!

Endre, Definitely!  They can make mulch, then use it on city/township property and reduce the government budget.  Win-win!

Lou, Good to see a smart use for the trees that would otherwise be taking up sizable space in the landfills.

Good morning, BLiz. It is nice when areas recycle Christmas trees to line park walking paths. Very environmentally responsible...

Stacey, Depending on the area, different uses.  I'd heard of what Larry mentioned above, using Christmas trees as erosion prevention.  Here we're more likely to have them converted to mulch.

Tom, It works out well to rather than just turning them into refuse.

Micheal, Going green with the green stuff, all is good :)
