This month has been bad for my tenants......

I know my tenants problems shouldn't bother me but they do.....

The first call came in the morning on January 2.... She couldn't pay the rent but she was starting a new job on Jan 5 and her first paycheck will be on Jan. 19.  the job is a good 3 month temp job with state government... I suggested ways she could use her job as a springboard into a more permanent job...this tenant has usually been early on the rent in the 18 months she has been with me.....

The next call came from a tenant on housing about his ex-wife also my tenant in the apartment next store.... He was very frightened... Joan was taken by ambulance and has pulmonary embolisms... This woman has lots of scary health issues and this one is a life threatening one.... He partly called to have someone who would listen and partly to tell me she hadn't made out her check yet....   (he wouldn't have the money to cover... I know that)....  The tenant is still in the hospital but she made out the check and he sent it... I am very worried about her...

The third and hopefully last call was from a tenant on housing.  She didn't have the money because for 2 months in a row her employer didn't have work in the last week of the month.... Housing didn't take that into account when they raised her share of the rent... She could give me the money on payday 1/13.... We talked about jobs and her prospects...She is thinking of going to school to become a hair stylist...A pretty good idea for a young mother of three who loves to do hair....

So.... I have trained my tenants to warn me when their is a problem....This month seems particular hard on them... I should be tougher but these are good people and they will get me the money.... Except for the last one they always have.... The last one is into the second month of having to contribute to her housing...
