It's a bird, it's a plane and sometimes in Santa Fe the conversations get interesting when we wonder if it is a raven or a crow. This one found me getting out of car at the office on the early side of nine this morning while the sun was still gleaming before the snow began to fall. This one was having a conversation all by itself. When I looked up, she hopped from one branch to another and kept on talking or crowing. It was clear she wanted me to do something besides look and ask her if she was a raven or a crow. She seemed smart enough to be a raven and at the same time I could not distinguish her feathers clearly enough to tell if they were pointed like a raven or rounded like a crow. And then all of sudden I realized it made no difference. Raven or crow, she had my attention. She stayed long enough for me to make this image and then soared away leaving me for a tall pine about a half-a-mile away.
One of the reasons I love Santa Fe is when I look up the odds are I will see blue skies, clouds and birds. It is rare to see a plane in the sky over Santa Fe. Listening to talking birds makes life here more interesting especially in this new landscape of real estate.
