An attention getter is better than an attention killer. I sat down with a broker one day to help him with a mail merge for his monthly letter. The first line said "Well not much has changed since last month."
Talk about an attention killer. Was their any reason for his readers to continue through the letter?
He would have been better off opening with something totally negative like "People are scared!" At least that would have encouraged his readers to read the next couple of sentences to find out why people are scared.
When you write, whether it is a peer-to-peer blog, an SOI blog, or a newsletter, have a point of view, target a point of view (the people you are writing for) and always try to grab attention quickly.
Brokers aren't the only people with ADD. If you wouldn't read it, what makes you think someone else would?
