It Didn't Have to Happen This Way.

A friend of mine recently experienced a loss.  Her mother passed away after a long battle with cancer.  She had been experiencing problems for quite a while, but she put off going to the doctor.  There was never enough time.  She, like many of us, was afraid to hear what it might be.  It was easier to ignore the problem; after all she didn't feel that bad.

Now a young mother faces the prospect of raising two children without the guidance of her mother.  These children will miss out on the love that this precious grandmother had to give.  With the proper medical screening/medical care this tragedy would most likely have been avoided.

If you are experiencing problems with your health then please, please, please go see a doctor.  If you are feeling fine then please don't forget to go for a regular check up.  Do it for yourself, do it for your loved ones, do it for those who count on you to be there.

Thank you for this blog ! My grandfather never went to the Doctors. He always felt they did more harm than good and didn't want to come home with a fist fill of RX's. I think many of the older generation feels like this. My grandfather was diagnosed with cancer when it was to late. It started in his stomach, went to the liphnoids and to his brain. When his dementia ( or so we thought) caught up with him and we called an ambulance the Doctor found a tumor on his brain that "had to be there for at least 5 years" said the Doctor. It was to late, he died 4 weeks from his diagnosis in the Hospital.

Yes, get checked. Even if you think its something little. It could save your life !

Thanks for sharing this story.  It's a great reminder to us all that our lives are not our own and that what we do affects those around us too.

How sad. Most times the fear of going to the doctor is worse than the actually problem but the few times it isn't that is when it counts the most.

Melissa - Thanks for sharing.  I'm sorry about your grandfather.  I'm not real big on doctors myself, and I'm learning I have to get over it.

Peggy - You are absolutely correct!

Todd and Danielle - Thanks for stopping in.  Fear of the unknown always seems to be worse than the reality of the situation.

This is so sad.  I thank you for sharing this story.  If it helps just one person it was well worth it.

There are so many of us that are afraid to go to the doctors for fear of what could be wrong.  I missed an appointment for a couple of years and when I finally went back to the doctor she said "Ok whats up?"  She knew I had been gone for awhile and that I probably returned with what I thought might be a problem.  Well lucky for me all is well.  I plan on keeping all my appoints from here on out.  The sooner you go...the better you will be!!  :)

It is very sad when someone that close to your heart has to go... My mother has a degenerative arthritis. She  has an excellent medical care but with her increased immobility her overall health is poor. It is almost impossible to change that but to hope that she will be around as long as possible.

Janice - You are welcome.  I'm happy to hear that you are fine.  Thanks for stopping by.

Arina - I'm sorry to hear that she is ill.  You are both blessed to have each other.  This really reminded me that I need to enjoy every day I have with those that I love.
