200,000 Plus Jobs Were Added In December

The latest Jobs Reports are showing that another 200,000 Plus Jobs Were Added In December.  Granted a number of those jobs were probably seasonal jobs, but there were still many that were not.  Jobs are what our economy needs to get us out of the down economic market that we have been in for a while now.

An encouraging note about the jobs that were added was that they did not appear to be related to local, state, or national government.  These additional jobs are being credited by the private sector, and that is where the jobs need to come from if we are going to have real growth.  The biggest increase in jobs were in the construction industry, which showed a  17% increase.

Alan Krueger, chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers,  in response to the latest figures said that the “employment report provides further evidence that the economy is continuing to heal from the worst economic downturn since the Great Depression.”

It is still too early to proclaim that we have turned the corner and are on our way back, but if the Jobs Report numbers continue on this positive trend, I think that we will start to see more and more jump onto the recovery bandwagon.

George * I don't know why you are dismissing that these are SEASONAL jobs - they are SEASONAL jobs for the holidays and the # of US workers who have given up on getting a job or even looking for a job is the malaise that this Administration is continuing to sweep under the rug.

We need JOBS * JOBS * JOBS and we need an administration that can get out of the way so that the PRIVATE sector can create them.

George,

I have at least two problems with this report.

I don't trust the reporter!

"The biggest increase in jobs were in the construction industry, which showed a 17% increase."

That sounds great! But. 17% tells us nothing! 17% of 50,0000 is 8,500. 5% of 1,000,000 fast food workers is 50,000!

Mixing numbers and percentages clouds and distorts the information!

George, I had seen that jobs report and there were a lot of opportunities in the manufacturing sector, which are typically solid jobs.

Yep and add that to Las Vegas being under 2 months inventory and Port St Lucie FL just over 2 months and you have the normal guage markets already back as SELLER MARKETS so look out what happens for everyone else soon.

I know some of those jobs were UPS and FEDEX for the holiday season but jobs are jobs even if they are temporary.  However I am sure that was only a very small part of that number.

It's always good to get some news like this, and now we need to see it sustained. Time will tell whether that will be the case.
