Storyteller Baba Jamal Koram at the Humboldt County, California Library

By
Real Estate Agent with Dan Edward Phillips

On Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at 6:30 PM, the Humboldt County Library in Eureka will host a Storytelling Program with special guest Baba Jamal Koram.

This extraordinary 'Story Man' brings a wealth of tales from Africa and the African American tradition, as well as many original stories taken from his life.

With his commanding voice, twanging Mbira and strong rhythmic drumming, Baba Jamal takes his audience with him to faraway times and places. But when you get there, you’ll find that these tales still resonate with our lives today.

The Humboldt County Library and First 5 Humboldt are delighted to host Baba Jamal Koram again this year.

Due to his large following in the area, the program is always crowded, so plan to go early.

These programs are free and all ages are welcome.

The Library’s programs and services are accessible to persons with disabilities.

The Humboldt County Library is located at 1313 3rd Street in Eureka, California.

Hello Dan,

There are not that many "story tellers" around any more. Good thing to have one that has such a large following.

Best, Clint McKie

Dan,

I really like when these local libraries develop programs to help or entertain the general public. Storytelling is something I have not seen yet in katy/Houston but it sounds like a truly fantastic program for families to enjoy together.

Wow! Sounds like an awesome experience! My grandmother was born in 1887 and by the time I was about 12, I realized how awesome it was to hear her stories about the old days. I'll bet that Baba can certainly bring his tales to life too!
